I really like them as espresso. But they work well in both cases. @vivid violet has been drinking it as well if you want an unbiased opinion.

The boozy finish is strongest at first but dissipates and floats more towards fruit forwardness after three or four weeks. At that point I start to get pineapple and banana with the rum lingering in the background.

I think of it sort of like a cocktail

I’m from LA but live in SD now, I’ll note some things that are different or unique for SD compared to LA. For starters it’s about 15 - 20 min everywhere within the South and North counties with north La Jolla being the rough dividing line, so very quick to get around. For coffee, pick up beans at Rikka Fika or Mnemonic, both good multi-roasters. Prevencho, Steady State or Necesity are good up and coming local roasters. Stuff to do - Whale watch at Cabrillo National Monument, Torrey Pines glideport for views, moonlight beach for classic SD surf beach vibe. Midway museum if you’re into ships and military, Little Italy and Bario Logan for 2 different food areas (Italian-ish or very legit Hispanic cuisines.) North Park, South Park, Hillcrest, are all different and cool neighbors for shops and eats. Birdrock if you’re jnto higher end hippie vibe, OG Birdrock roaster is there which is kind of a cool hang spot, also delicious sourdough and croissant nearby at Wayfarer bakery

Double check the insurance, it might have roadside service.
Also 511 California freeway assist, they can get your spare on, tow you off the freeway, etc. It can be a safety hazard so they're an awesome service

(granted the two times I've used my roadside through my insurance, they were so slow)
