Thanks really appreciate the feedback from you and @tight gorge ! That bit of roastiness is exactly what I’m trying to modulate in the last 20 seconds of my roasts right now. I want to bring a little caramel to the finish to help round out the extra acidity of these light roasts but without crossing into toffee and worse. It’s a super tricky balance but the goal is to backdoor lighter stuff into the mainstream at my carts and see if I can expand the tent at the lighter end of the spectrum. Not there yet but getting closer 🙂

From my vague memory of the one dose I had of the S&W roast this has a much juicier citrus (orange and lime) acidity
Florals are quite subtle in this cup it’s definitely more in the back

Great feedback, thanks! I struggled with this for a while and then updosed to 1:15 and dropped the brew temp to 93c (I think I saw Bill from Hydrangea mention this) and it opened up for me. Agree the orange and lime is tasty. I think the S&W was on his stronghold?

That’s super interesting. For me the lower brew temp and higher dose tied everything together but I think that gets into very subjective preference. Now I want to try 1:17 and 96c cause that’s the exact opposite direction. My water is 75GH/35KH what are you brewing with?

Missed the whole FSD conversation last night. Never used it in my 2018 X with HW2.5 but did use enhanced auto-pilot all the time and it def improved over the years. The replacement Y that I got after my X was totaled in September has HW4 and they keep “unlocking” FSD to try to get me to buy it. I tried it once last week and my car immediately crossed the double yellow lines and pulled into the oncoming left turn lane 🤦♂️. I love the smoothness of what is basically traffic assisted cruise control (it has gotten a LOT better) and the heatmaps for tight spaces are really great but every time I’ve tried to let the car do it’s thing without intervention it drives like my 90 year old granny just before we took away the keys… I will say that my first supercharger experience was a huge surprise. My 2018 X took a long time to charge but this Y added 80 miles in 5 minutes and was finished before I got back from the bathroom 😂
I have a love/hate thing for Tesla and after driving Hyundai Ioniq 5, I def miss all the cool featuers and supercharging
Ioniq5 definitely has better ride quality and my lower back no longer hurts as much
It was such a tough call and I love the styling of the ioniq5! The lumbar support in the Tesla works really well for my back but that’s such a personal thing. The main factors for me were supercharging network and made in CA so local jobs + local taxes

@compact hound I’ve been paying attention to sweetness in that mejorado since I have it at 3 roast levels right now. Imo the lack of sweetness is a bigger issue to me than a little brown in the aftertaste. The orange & lime come through at all three levels. Appreciate the feedback - gotta figure that sweetness out next!

maybe in isolation but the vertical screen mounted below the dash kept the sightline out the front cleaner and I drive with North always up for nav so more of the drive is visible on the screen. For immediate turns and all useful “while driving” data the X had a smaller display behind the wheel so much less side-glancing while driving. And also buttons/toggles for a lot of things that now require side glancing and menu diving… so much of it is personal pref though and I’ll learn this new system eventually!

very interesting. on my older 2018 car that specific version works okay. i use it all the time on local roads. It has even navigated some situations smoother than i could have.
(granted, it also screws up, so it's always good to be paying attn)
I had a 2018 as well and they still had ultrasonic sensors. Now it’s 100% camera based. TBF I have not extensively tested it but it’s just not that appealing to me. I liked the enhanced autopilot that they used to offer but no longer an option
I think that should be about 6 weeks which is when I was planning on opening it as well

From experience it tastes like their charge temp is too high.

When playing with straight 9 bar shot like your bambino I just go for a 1:3.25-3.5 in 20s
So far I’ve been preferring the 12% moisture loss to the 10% moisture loss but it may just be skill issue
Oh wow, this was really good on first try in spro, @drowsy knot ! I did a 1:3 with the same fine grind I use for decaf
It’s a little light on texture so I might up the dose by a gram but it was really enjoyable
I love getting super close to the dial on first try lol
Oh also I used the dual wall stock basket to pull two blank shots and build up the heat/pressure in the machine before pulling this
It did come out quite watery but it tastes pretty good lol
But it’s not super sour like I was expecting

I cupped this at Ondo. I really struggled to get past the funk.
Once it was nearing cold, the funk really subsided and I enjoyed it more but I still preferred other coffees on the table
I had the opposite experience, at the start when it was hot I was getting those fruity and citrusy notes but then after I ran some errands and it got cold I dont remember what I quite tasted but I poured the rest down the sink because I couldn't palate it
I haven't seasoned or dialed in my grinder quite yet though so I'll have to get back, I made it on a brand new k-ultra
@drowsy knot brewed the ecuador again and I feel like the cup has become hollow
Lost the juicy citrus acidity completely
Mainly pick up oolong tea and a faint melon sweetness
Its been 15 days since I previously brewed it
I am so blessed to have been born in the biggest specialty coffee hotspot in the world
Thanks for that comparison. I am enjoying the just slightly more developed version quite a bit and I think it might be holding up better as well. I think I’ll play around with this one on the decent tomorrow before rethinking the bean
