Hey all, I purchased a jake valve modded BDB a while back on this server. Recently it pushed out the valve (or something?) while pulling a shot and now it can't get any pressure and is leaking. What can I test to identify the issue?

Leaking (exploded?) Jake Modded BDB
Normally it takes 6 full turns to get the valve out, but it seems to open up after less than 1 turn now
Also judging by the rusty spacer its probably been leaking or wet for a while
Water is leaking from the blue plastic male fitting on the valve housing when i use a blind basket to test
gonna just disassemble the valve mount and put it back together?
Sounds like it may be a compounding of issues (two leaks). If it's leaking then not building pressure would be expected.
You may need to replace the leaking push connect, and disassemble the valve and be prepared to replace parts in there (o-ring) as well
Well im an idiot and overtightened the needle and broke the valve in half 🙃
so i guess new valve it is
I did get one test in where it hit 11 bar with the blind basket though
so theres a good chance all i had to do was put everything back together after reseating and itd be fine
the valve is very fragile, many did that
i personally converted to #994257676374638723 after breaking it 🙃
How involved/expensive was swapping to the gear pump?
and what were the benefits
About $200, medium complexity.
Benefits:
• almost silent (louder than rotary)
• self priming compared to rotary
• linear pump control
Also, I just wanted gear pump in machine
what do you control it with? and are there any guides you used?
sounds interesting
With a controller board I made with esp32/Arduino.
No guide unfortunately but if you have a bit of electronics knowledge you should be able to do it.
Yowch!
You could replace it with another clippard valve or try to get hold of a stock valve in the mean time
@vernal dragon i put some pictures of it here before i messed up repairing it if you want to see
Ew...
I got all the parts and put it all back together with no leaks!
but for whatever reason the new valve is a little loose in the 3d printed housing
not a huge deal
The rusty bit on paper towel is an impact nut driver. I would think someone dropped that inside the machine.
I believe that was used to turn the clippard valve. It has a 6mm hex "knob" on it.
