Hi everyone. I have Gaggia with gaggiuino mod (using the defult profile with preinfiusion and blooming, extraction times from 45-60s) and I use 15g IMS Competizione basket. I use ARCO grinder, make sure to WDT, level and temper the puck. In 95 % of the time the espresso is great regardless the coffe (from 82 Brasil to 87 Kenia and experimental coffees) however with this IMS basket, the puck is always wet and falls appart (with stock basket I never had simmilar problems). Any ideas on what I am doing wrong or could do better? Many thanks!
#(too) Wet puck?

How does the coffee taste? If good, ignore puck appearance… If bad, do things to make it good and still ignore puck appearance
If you’re super worried about it though. Just let the PF handle sit off the group for a minute and then knock the puck out, sometimes they just need a minute to dry/reabsorb the liquid.
Firstly, many thx. In the 95 % the coffee tastes just perfect - just curious about the puck apperance. I'll try wating a bit - usually removing the puck and cleaning the group is the first thing I do after the brew process (5-10 after the coffee was brewed). Here are photos of the puck that was left in the Machine for a few more minutes… (the last photo is the side view of the puck when broken in parts …
Don’t leave it in the machine. Disengage the group and let the PF sit on the side for a minute whilst you do everything else. Basically knock out the puck last.
But. Yeah, puck gazing isn’t a really useful thing.
One additional thing I could try is usign button and/or top puck filter paper as the dark circles on the edge of the puck could meen I have a challenge with a radial evenness. Would be interesting to see if I could spot the difference ... (Oh my, puck gasing again 😅😂😅)
