#Lelit Bianca Grouphead Pressure not holding

Just got a Lelit Bianca v3 and noticed that the group head pressure gage will slowly climb to 9 bars and then immediately go back down after. Is this normal cuz it seems like the shots are more watery near the end. Also I can't do any flow profiles because the pressure wont hold consistenly. The pump shows 10 bars and with a back flush disk in it hits 10 bars and stays there.

It’s normal, the group bourdon gauge shows (not perfectly accurate but close enough) pressure inside the grouphead. Which is a function of input flow (related to pump pressure), puck resistance (essentially grind fineness, although not entirely), and output flow rate (how fast coffee ends up in your cup)

How do I do flow profiling then when the recipes say hold at 9 bars for x seconds and drop to 6 bars for x seconds when my gauge wont hold and just goes up to 9 and back to 0

Grind finer.

#

Your puck isn’t resisting the pressure well enough

#

Or perhaps you’re grinding way too fine and you’re just snapping the puck clean in half. More detail on what your output looks/tastes like would be helpful.

20 g in 45g out in 25-30 sec. Taste is close to balanced just slightly acidic. Texture is very thin and watery however

What’s the bean?

#

1:2.5 will tend towards a thinner body.

#

Oh no that’s 1:2.25. 😅

#

What profile are you aiming at? And why that profile?

light roasted ethiopian i believe from a local roaster. I know it sounds weird but I'm fine with the output and taste I just wanted to do some flow profiling with pre infusions and low flow rate with the paddle. The gauge not changing at all makes it more difficult.

#

Following the recipe from the roaster tbh

#

but wanted to try londinium profile for fun lmao

You got a video of what’s going on? I mean ideally like 3 videos from different angles like group, scale, grouphead gauge. But I understand most people don’t have a home film studio (myself included 😅)

ya i can pull a shot quick and send it

A video is so insanely helpful when discussing particular profiles on Bianca.

lyric jolt
#

Im just gonna pull one fully open so you can see the gauge drop

ebon granite
#

Pull whatever profile it is you want to discuss I guess.

#

Which grinder you running?

#

Omg I’m an idiot I never checked the settings

#

It had low profile start and finish programmed in default somehow

ebon granite
#

Well now you know! 😅

lyric jolt
#

I never checked cuz I assumed it would be factory off

#

I have a v2 so that wouldn’t have been something I’d have thought of straight away either.

lyric jolt
#

Guess when they tested it before shipping they must have made sure that worked

#

So I was basically fighting the computer when I tried to do manual profiling

ebon granite
#

Which means you’re dialled in for an odd point.

lyric jolt
#

Ya gonna have to re dial in but that’s a much easier fix then replacing a gauge

#

Thank you for the help lmao

ebon granite
#

No worries any time.

#

#profiling is probably gonna be a massive help to you overall though.

lyric jolt
#

Ya I need to start reading more on that. Just watched a few YouTube videos so far

"flat pressure" profiles really don't exist, unless you grind (too) fine
