Hello! I'm having some issues with the flow rate on my GCP. I was getting little to no flow for a bit and when I looked around online discovered that is a symptom of buildup in the solenoid valve. I went ahead and soaked the solenoid valve in descaler and tried to clean it (it wasn't very dirty to begin with). It "fixed" the issue temporarily for a day, and now I'm getting variable flow. For instance, today it was a single stream from the group head. I turned the knob on the steam wand and tried to get some water out through there, and then the flow through the group head returned to normal for one shot. But the steam pressure through the wand was much weaker than normal.

One thing I noticed during the descaling of the solenoid was one hole was significantly harder to get air through than the other, I'm not sure if that is expected or not so I'm thinking maybe there is some scale buildup that I missed inside the valve.

Are there any other suggestions than cleaning the solenoid again?

Just checking: Did you descale the rest of the machine?

No i didn't, I suppose that is the next step? fwiw the solenoid didn't show any signs of scale on it

it's pretty easy to do a full teardown of these machines

I had the same issue this morning, so I'll try a full descale this weekend to see if it changes anything
