#PLANTS AND GARDEN!

growing in epic thread
I suggest golden pothos or a spider plant theyre so easy to take care of
if you buy a cactus check if they painted it or if its in real soil
Once im able I'll share pics of all my plants! i have a lot
Yea I got plenty of cactus knowledge by this point :3
im gonna get some herbs at the start of spring
i wanna succesfully cultivate a basil plant
for some reason the only plants I kill are usually cacti :( theyre harder for me to understand
OOOOH basil is so nice to grow
its so hard ;w;
Having fresh basil on demand would be hella cool
at my parents house there is a really big rosemary and oregano and theyre like
impervious to all damage
theyre just outside in the garden and have survived multiple winters
and just keep growing
but the second i even look at basil it starts to wilt
They are much hardier in the ground ive noticed. I can never maintain them bc i dont have a yard :[
outdoor plants are so strong
yeah i have a studio apartment wiht a small balcony so sadly i dont have any soil
Yea I’ve heard once shit like oregano and cilantro grows it’s basically there forever cus of how good it protects itself from pests lmao
And same
Small studio
No balcony at all tho. But I’d figure it out
I want to grow green onion again bc I use them so often. theyre very easy
<3 onion
i actually got a free garlic last year but i ran into an issue when i couldnt figure out how to dry it properly
so i didnt know what to do with it and i got stressed and let it die :(
I don't do any gardening but I love plants so I'll just drop in time to time
I am growing an avocado seed, its in soil now but hasnt grown much
i have no clue how garlic works
I’ve grown green onion before it’s deadass super ezpz
They're a tree so it'll take time..alot of time
garlic is much like green onion :3 but after a while you need to dig out the bulb
and dry it
or else it'll go bad really quickly
I love how there’s grasses that are actually wild onion and if you chew on them they taste like onion. Used to grow all over my moms house
garlic is also great because you can also eat the garlic uhm.. shoots? i think is what they're called
We have them just in the garden and they are still in a plastic pot. They just live
theyre like the young garlic greens and theyre delicious
Yea deadass
aliums <3
Sometimes I’d cut some of them down and toss them in pasta I’d cook
They're great decor too
Turns out the outside world grows free garlic and onion flavor for you
It’s there, no one will arrest u or stop u from taking it
mix of potato and green onion
!
It's like taking ducks from a park. technically no-one can stop you but maybe u shouldn't
no you should definitely take some wild onion if there's enough to take
dont overharvest
Half my messages don't make sense srry I'm half asleep and on phone
similarily stealing shoots from the garden centre is legal and the only way to get into heaven
If there's a cool plant u like on the side of the road no-one is stopping u from taking it 👍👍
Whenever I have time I’ll stop to get something cute I can grow indoors and share :3
Cus I haven’t been able to have a pet so like
Maybe a plant would be perfect
plants are great! I love finding ones from outside and seeing if they grow into anything cool
I will try to do so once spring comes
muschroom
Mashoroom :)
mutchroom
Moshorom
Black medic in my terrarium :)
And freak terrarium I sealed because there’s a scary amount of algae
Shoutout to the turfgrass thriving
I always confuse u and Wayne I swear
Yea those are cute!
😏
😏
two wayne..
why would u shoot wayne hylicsgame :(
One tells the truth and the other lies
I love lying. Is that the truth?
Wait how would we decide who tells lies
OK we both tell lies
Yes
Was weeding and planting flowers in the backyard yesterday evening. Therapeutic
Love weeding!
I especially love pulling out the grasses that are one really long root it's very nice
using a pickaxe makes it especially easier
- that may just be the terrian i was working in though, hillside and very dry/rocky dirt
Got this object that grows vegetables and/or fruits in a soil-less water box thing! Found it at a swapmeet for 20 bucks 🙂
yeahh its called the Aero Garden
its growing parsley atm, but i'm looking to grow cilantro
:0 ty!
That’s sick!
Usually they’re pretty expensive
Yeahh, I got lucky that it was literally unopened w/ all parts and stuff
Does anybody know what this is
It's not a leaf
Like the thing growing out of the same stem as the leaf. It's never happened before with this plant
Almost looks like a flower?
Unfortunately idk the species of the plant bc I got it at trader Joe's awhile ago
Yep!! It's a flower :)
Is it a lily of some kind?
I can ask my mum when I get home!! She knows alot about flower types
Ty :]
She said she wasn't too sure but definitely some sort of philodendron
Ty fot asking!
No problem!!
Looks a lot like an Alocasia frydek
CARLOZ WINNN
I would say almost 100% an Alocasia but I’m not super great with the species and cultivars :3
Kudos to you for getting it to flower, looks super healthy!
Tysm!! Tbh it's one of my more low maintenance plants. I go large gaps without watering it and give it good sun
:]] Its a beautiful plant, I found it at trader Joe's of all places lol. It was several inches smaller then
Dude Trader Joe’s actually has great plants
So does Walmart actually, you just need to check everything for pests
I’ve been out of the houseplant market for a while but it’s interesting
MY BEST PLANTS HAVE BEEN FROM LIKE
Unassuming places
The plants from nurseries have been so hard to care for they're picky creatures lol
Yes dude
I neglected the shit out of my ZZ raven from Home Depot for at least a year and it’s still perfect
New shoot too
I would recommend getting one of these guys if you ever have the chance, just a goth version of a ZZ
Terrible pic but you can see the new shoot changing colors
OOO
THATS A REALLY PRETTY PLANT TY FOR THE REC
I've been looking for a new one so this works :D
What is the spotted one as well! That's amazing
Begonia maculata! Also from Walmart and I need to give her a huge chop
Begonia :] so that's what they look like. Now I know!
She looks beautiful you also take good care of your plants
I forgot to prune my golden pothos and it grew so huge I separated it into 3 pots lol
Yeeep
I love pothos
I stole some cuttings from one of my school’s buildings and they took off in like a week
I love the twistedness and dangling vines
OMG YESH
Yeaaah
They grow so quickly it's amazing
You should get a string of hearts too if you like vining plants!
Need to chop her back, I got them in a plant trade as like two tiny strands
He has survived like 4 moves, being chomped by my cat, getting thrown out of the pot, and dying back to a single strand
The flowers look kind of phallic as well, which I guess can be a pro or con depending on the beholder lol
OOOO YES YES I've tried with the whispy hanging plants and have been too rough by mistake, but I'd love to try again
Most plants are phallic (at least ones I've had
I LOVE YOUR DECOR TOO BTW
I am taking notes on plants to get... I've noticed the air quality in my room has gotten a lot better so I definitely would like more in there
Real
My ficus has grown huge!!
Plant tourrr
The one in the cup is a monstera I am bringing back to life lol
just bought one from an earth day sale :] ty for the rec!
I LOVE MY PLANTS I JUST GOT TWO MOREE
LFG
nice new plants
:DD
Yooo so cool!!
African violets!
Also new mantis cage
I think she’s happy to be able to blend in
Not entirely plant related I guess but I got her yesterday and am so excited to have a mantis again
Shoutout little guys and dudes
Many of them have bloomed now!
Also I think one of my plants has come today but I will have to see
ohh!! so pretty
Ever since I took this one out of the original pot its been so happy
Needed wiiiide space
SO TRUEEE
I love Christmas cacti
THEYRE SILLY
Sometimes plants need to die before being healthy I noticed
Updates on my Christmas cactus :]
Feat the monstera that is slowly coming back he is not in good shape lol
But has little leaves growing bacj
took an edible from hell last night and woke up still high
Would recommend gardening in this state honestly
That sounds tranquil
sounds awesome actual its such a calming thing to do
this is so real
i usually get outside when i wake up after taking a big gummy
and it helps to keep the sludge at bay
stealing this method moving forward
Peppers when they won’t germinate in the seed trays with special soil and fertilizer but thrive in some random crack
I’m supposed to pull up anything that grows here but I can’t bring myself to
Gave him some fertilizer because I want to see how big he can get before someone else pulls him up
i love you brick pepper
brick pepper 💖
Brick pepper is this channels mascot
I’ll keep y’all updated
holy shit the extendo
TY :] idr where I got it
I LOVE LONG PLANTS!!
Plant friends, do yall have any experience setting up an herb garden?
Nothing fancy, just a lil thing to see grow and have fresh herbs on hand c:
i do!!
It depends on the herbs you want!
Rosemary is the easiest to grow for most people
Look into what herbs you want and how they grow, what I usually do is get a big enough pot for two or three
Put plants that won’t overcrowd each other and need around the same water/care
So put the more woody herbs together (oregano, thyme, rosemary, etc) and the more herbaceous herbs together (cilantro, basil, chives, etc)
Also sorry for writing this poorly I’m hungover
If you want to grow mint, for the love of god don’t put anything else in that pot or put the pot on dirt
Mint spreads so much and will actively grow out of the bottom of the pot into grass if you let it
Also I’m sure this isn’t the best way to do it, but I fertilize with a chicken manure mix and then supplement with 1/2 strength mix of urea (inorganic fertilizer)
There’s a few herbs with different care like mint, if you want to grow lavender (often sold with herbs these days) and you’re in a region with more clay based soil you should keep it in a pot because it needs a lot better drainage
Planting in ground can be a little more tricky, so I actually usually prefer to plant herbs in pots. In ground there’s a lot more to deal with, but honestly I’ve seen plenty of people just shove shit in there with no amendments and do fine
Got lavender yesterday actually
i love you floor pepper
Floor pepper loves you too
FLOOR PEPPER MY FRIEND!
The beauty of nature astounds him
I am mesmerized by the beauty and resilience of nature and the world...
I’m growing my monstera in a cute little coffee cup planter rn, it’s been doing well. It is still really small but I’ve been watering it every day basically (skipping if the soil is moist). It has already gotten a new leaf too!! Also seems to love weed pipe water lmao
I will send pic in the afternoon :3
Enriching them with the weed water!! Please do share :]
I'm also regrowing a monstera in a coffee cup. They seem to enjoy those
This plant is from 2021 I'm pretty sure and has died basically 2 times but it's growing back!
🔥🔥
The best kind of propagation is the one you’re doing to revive a plant that’s been trying to die for years
Speaking of which I have to take pics of my gigantic money tree that died like 2 times
Its finally growing chutes again
I had to cut an entire part of its bark(?) Off. I would not let it die and yet am responsible for it dying both times
I forgot lmao
But yes :3
There is a hole in the bottom for drainage hehe, I was so happy when I found the pot at savers
I need to trim my geckos one terrarium plant, I actually have no clue what it is but it was in the safe for herp section at my reptile store
This goofy ass thing
Also please don’t bully me for her tank rn DVD is burrowing a ton cuz I think she is ready to lay soon
She keeps fucking throwing wood chips everywhere
also the reason it’s growing sideways is cuz she’d throw herself on the wall and then body slam it??? Enrichment ig
I can just trim the damn wilty leaves off no?
LOVE IT SM I have a Swiss cheese too but it has less leaves
SHES THROWING DOWN W THE PLANT
Yes u can trim off dead leaves! Even alive leaves
Looks like a tradescantia
some little flowers in my backyard!
thinking of starting up a garden again but last time, a hurricane wiped it all away
FIRE
omg hell yes :D
look at it go!
Should I put the plant in dirt now that there's a leaf?
Or wait for the leaf to fully emerge
You can do either if there’s good enough roots!
Soil generally has more nutrients so the leaf would grow better and faster
The roots are ok enough! There's one that's kinda ehh. Idk how long they should be bc they're not that long yet
You can do it after like an inch depending on how big the cutting is
Sorry I am lightly drunk lol
Plant advice with tipsy Carlos
WOOO ! and they are about that much I think? There's the big root and the new roots are probably an inch by now
I’d say if the roots and shoots are a similar length you are good to go
anyone else constantly fighting a losing battle against invasive species
tree of heaven are so fucking hellish to keep out of my yard i hate them and they smell nasty
evil trees of hell
eat them in front of the rest of them to send a message
Godspeed
idk if anyone else has problems w them but i cant plant anything outside of pots and raised garden beds bc they release toxins into the soil and kill all native plants they sick
suck
Bowling pin head lol 🎳
I've only had experiences with cucumbers taking over entire parts of the yard
damn wtf i didnt know that could happen
i love it
They grow like weeds basically if you grow them u need to isolate them
It got to the point where they grew in the wild where I used to live lol
I love this cactus so much, it was a spawn from another one that started to die
So I grew that one
damn well good to know
its so cute
here’s my little fellas
long boys
they’re nearly 4 years old now
Herbicides bro :(
Sucks but that’s probably your only option
Also awesome cacti guys
Ive heard pouring boiling water on where bamboo grows will kill it
so maybe itll work for those too?
yeah i’ll try it!
i’m planning on this weekend digging out my garden bed and laying down mesh to prevent weeds and replacing the soil and i’m really excited to do it
it will be a bit of a task and i’ve had low motivation recently but doing yardwork yesterday made me feel really good so i want to get my yard cleaned up for summer and start growing stuff
i have a ton of tomato cages so i’m thinking i’ll plant tomatoes, if anyone has experience planting and growing tomatoes i’d appreciate any advice
also little positive thing but succulents and lambs ear have started naturally growing in my front yard and i love it! some clover too. i dont have any grass bc it’s ugly and a waste of water so it’s nice to have pretty plants taking over those spots
Make sure there’s nothing under the soil before doing this but yeah
Nothing electrical/structural that can be damaged by boiling water
Boiling water is always worth a shot as long as you check before and keep monitoring it after
If the roots are super deep, it might not work but it’s always worth a shot
Because it’s 🔥free🔥 and 🔥doesn’t require mixing or effort🔥
we love free alternatives!!
oh good to know yeah it should be fine!! i will try that
the unfortunate thing is there’s one really tall tree of heaven on the abandoned property behind me so idk if the small trees will ever stop unless the large tree gets removed
they can grow really huge and send up these small ones everywhere they i think grow similarly to bamboo w the root networks underground
and they poison the ground and kill native plants. also they smell horrible
and they grow SO FAST TOO
I HOPE SO TOO
it killed my sage plant and im still so sad
it was there when i moved in but it died last year
tree of heaven EVIL SICK AND TWISTED
Tree of STINK
Slightly illegal suggestion but it would be so crazy if someone just accidentally spilled some herbicide on the abandoned property….
If you are worried about toxicity, I think 2,4-D is a bit safer and won’t kill the grass in that area
Shouldn’t hurt the bugs, but don’t apply it near rivers
2,4-D is cool as fuck in the way it functions actually but I won’t nerd here
no please nerd here im so curious
^
HOW DID U GET LETTERS SO BIG !!!!!!!!!!!!!
People taking invasive species removal into their own hands are doing a service to local wildlife
Often landscapers do it themselves
Because it's ignored
I agree! Not everybody is aware of what's native bc a lot of invasive species have been around for a long time
So people just assume it's always been there
I know where I used to live there used to be a lot of books and pamphlets on that stuff
thank you
WOO
YEAHHH!!!!
They should be put everywhere
I was lucky enough too to be taught abt local ecology in school
They really focused on science
apparently the tree i was complaining about contributes to the lantern fly population too bc theyre both native to china but i dont think they have lantern flies here could be wrong though
my elementary school was an environmental school so i know lots about native plants in my state 😎
o word? u have a tree of heaven annoying ya?
I lived on long Island in NY so there was so much of ticks and invasive bug and plant stuff. They hammered it in so much at school for some reason
I wish I got to learn agricultural methods as well! I'm looking into finding some books written by indigenous people about farming bc I'd like to someday
My ecology teachers' wife has the meat allergy because of that :( I've heard it's awful
HUGE TICK WOAH
Hopefully someday you can do a farming internship! I hate jobs with invasive application questions :[
Also that sounds great! It makes me happy to see when community efforts succeed :]
I think she's ok! She just needs to be careful with meat
I wish you the best of luck
I'm sorry you had long covid that's awful :( it's scary
I wish I lived near the live in farms or any farms that needed help
Be sure to take plenty of cough and cold medicine (not the cheap stuff either I've made that mistake with covid lol
7/11 cold medicine is not good
I wish I was exaggerating abt it being 7/11 😭 tough times
It did NOT work and made my cold worse
WOOO >:] destruction of evil trees
You have more time to plan out the farming endeavors
Pour 7/11 cough medicine on the tree and I guarantee it will die
It will be trying to run away
A warning to the tree... biohazard
New song pitch >:]]]
haha i love this
WHAt is this flower called it is pretty
uhmm
are they not the same flower in the first pic?
oh wait no theyre totally not teehee mb
what are these flowers
they are pretty :)
They're so pretty!!!
They actually have caused a lot of drama in the plant community, since their old common name was bad towards Jewish people
So now people say the botanical name or ‘wandering dude’
Anyway no problem bro
Ohh that's right, I heard abt that
I'm glad there's a new name for it now, I always wondered if it'd be changed
very cute plant :D
hey guys is there any very low maintanence plants youd recommend for beginners? it would be an indoor plant with little to no sun atm
i want plants in my rooms but i switch houses weekly so i wouldnt be able to water them which makes me a lil sad because thats kinda how u keep em alive
Golden pothos are very low maintenance other than needing to be pruned a LOT
Mine like getting very dry before I water them again
And like indirect light
theyre such a gorgeous plant :O i didnt know they were low maintenance
Idk if my pothos is just weird though. Plus I live somewhere with a very high humidity
They are where I am bc of the weather! But it depends
hmmm
ill look into it :D
i really want my rooms to be brighter with plants because ive always loved them but now since im all set and will be home alot more i want to actually get into it
I believe in you! Once you get started and stay on top of plants it gets a lot easier
Get a grow light!
I have a grow bulb in a normal ass lamp that I have set on a timer
Pothos is a good plant rec though
I forgot grow lights exist omg
That is a good idea!
I'm so scared bc I plan on moving, and I currently live in a pretty warm and humid state
And I'm aiming to move to the pnw
I just hope my plants won't die :[
I moved from Texas to colorado with like 50 plants
It’s very inconvenient but it works
Also pnw real I kind of want to move there after school
Does the change in humidity affect anything? My plants stay moist for a WHILE after I water them here
I'm afraid of them crisping up and exploding it's very dramatic
But I will have hope
It's so beautiful and so many things to do there
Pnw shouldn’t be too dry, colorado is dry as shit and my plants don’t have an issue
They can get a little shocked but should come back
I had issues but my plants didn’t lol
Ty!! As silly as it sounds that's one of my biggest moving worries
I care a lot abt my plants
I've had to revive my plants before so I realistically could again
Sooo true
big tree
ive been up in the sierras and the diversity of trees and plants and critters up there is SOCOOL
idk what the one on the top left is
Aweosme!
Aquatic bulbs sprouted!
I am literally just fucking around I don’t know what I’m doing lol
I love fucking around and finding out
After you get the basics of plant care I highly recommended doing so
Once I have more room I'm growing SEEDS
I have very old sunflower seeds
Ok once I plant them, they'll be old
LFG
I've always wanted to grow them, they've been one of my favorite flowers since I was little
How!
I think with sunflowers it’s pretty easy, just wait until the flower starts dying and then pull off the seeds in the center
Also dry them as with any seed
Tysm!!
Beautiful plants!!
Cool setup and also holy shit those bonsai are awesome
You have really cool tile in whatever room that is
I love tile !!!!
found those bonsai in shurijo castle, and the others were in the bathroom of a soba house
slay
Omg spam container. I never thought of that maybe it's worth a try
I hope poking drainage holes at the bottom would be easy
Since the cans are usually pretty sturdy
whuh?
how sturdy are the cans in the us
Very
They have almost cut my finger and don't bend at all basically
i was thinking about using a knife
damn
so a pumpkin started growing in my yard randomly i did not plant it
i think it’s because last year maybe one of my jack o lanterns disintegrated there or smth
picture from 8/16
picture from this morning
it’s going crazy!!!!!
It’s growing so fast every time i go outside in the morning it got bigger
i’ve just been watering it really heavily in the evening and it’s doing so well i love it
the only problem is it’s growing on the path to my door and you can’t really redirect pumpkins so it’s taking up my entire walkway and it’s still growing lmao it might take over my entire yard at this point
Awesome
‼️‼️
PUMPKI !!!@
Yo does anyone have recs for plants thatre a) beginner and 2) safe for the kitties? I was thinking like uhh baby tears? I heard they're easy to take care of and non-toxic, plus they're their great for keeping cats entertained lol
pothos!
super easy to take care of, don’t really have to maintain it a whole lot nor does it need a lot of sunlight
mines is thriving i do need to repot it, it’s getting bigger
and it’s fine around cats
some cactuses are pretty easy as well, not sure which ones are safe for cats but mines isn’t in reach of her anyways she don’t care
OH I LOVE POTHOS
my parents have my old one from college, friggin thing started rooting into their living room wall lmaooooo
I was hoping they'd be good for cats I like them a lot :DDD
my old one did the same before i moved to current place, it got huge then i tried to set it up the same and it was a huge change of environment for it and it had a hard time surviving and adapting which was unfortunate but hey it’s to late now
i did try to save it as much as possible but it was just to big
RIP big man 🥺7
I might take a few cuttings from it and put them around the house
Give some to friends :3
really pretty flowers in oside !
yum
pog pfp 🇼
Two four leaf clovers in one day
i just bought 4oz of wildflower mix i hope it ships before the first winter rain so i can plant it by the highway rahhhhh
when the socal wildflower mix has no nasturtium or african daisy
i am a little scared now tho bc some reviews say fiddlenecks which arent even listed as smth included overcrowded everything else
we gonna see :3
I don't really grow outside, but here's my current indoor garden
Nasturtium flowers
Planted them as a trap plant but they are so pretty that I’m totally planting some at my house later this year
yoo i used to suck sweet water outta these guys
or something, no idea what it was but it was sweet
In this video we return to Northern New Zealand to check out the flora growing with Agathis australis in an old growth Kauri forest.
Your contributions support this content. It sounds clichéd, but it's true. Whether it's travel expenses, vehicle repair, or medical costs for urushiol poisoning (or rockfalls, beestings, hand slices, toxic sap, e...
First proper pot! Yes it's a bit ugly. Yes there is random shit in this pot!! It's like that on purpose tho :D
I love the flavour of these too
My gf is doing the planning and planting lol. Think it'll be lavendar, cat mint and a few others?
I guess y’all’s soil is better for lavender over there, ours is too clay to put it in the ground lol
Cat mint is the best though, I think that stuff can grow anywhere
If y’all have a cat they will be very happy
The soil was a bit clay-y, we topped it off with some manure though so hopefully should keep us covered
We don't, but some neighbourhood cats chill in our garden sometimes
I hope that works out! Let me know what ends up happening
I love lavender
Here’s mine next to some, she goes crazy for it
That's so cute lol
Here's whats to be planted, it started raining so will have to wait til later to get at it
That’s going to be amazing! Your gf has a great eye for plants
Is that an olive tree?
Hopefully everything works there but if anything dies out y’all should plant verbena bonariensis in the back
Should grow well there and match the other stuff
Tasty
Offering weed beer and food for my friends to help me with gardening for a day
#1 strat
Not a bad trade
Doing the work of planting the past while has taught me how exhausting gardening is lol
I’m giving up on being able to do this myself because of how overgrown the weed are after years of no maintenance
We moved in last year in fall so we couldn’t do a lot at that point
I’ve been trying to work gradually but spring just began here and the weeds have gone insane
I’m realizing I can’t do it by myself because there’s so many years worth of hidden weed roots coming up everywhere
Not close to my first rodeo but this might be the most weeds I’ve seen in my life
It’s a college house from like the 50’s so it’s probably actual decades of weeds
There’s barely any grass, it’s mostly dandelions and bindweed lol
I think some of the worst fields I’ve had to weed were one of my coworkers experimental hemp plots that grew insane bindweed just because of the amount of fertilizer they used on it
No matter how we weeded it, it would come back. Only really an issue when the seeds were coming up and in the seedling phase since they would get immediately choked out by it, but since the experiment didn’t take that long we just gave up after they got big enough to compete
lol yeah, do you work in hort/ag?
Oh real, I’m doing a farm internship in Japan this summer! I also get that, I have some health problems that are kinda similar to long covid and it makes working hard
The started kicking up in my sophomore year and I wasn’t sure if I could keep working in such a hands on field for a while, but I really can’t imagine myself working in anything else so I’m just going to try and work it out
I’ll see what happens this summer, if it ends up bad I think I’ll try and get a government job or something where I don’t have as much physical labor
Helll yessss
If you’re in the US, the USDA has some research positions that are less physical depending on where you are
Botanical gardens also have admin or similar positions that open up sometimes too
Loool little critter mischief
Here’s the bed last year
And here it is last week or so
Soil was so compacted, there was seemingly some added but most of it was just ground soil, so it was very clay
I added some manure compost, I’m going to add a little more of that and then some bio tone and mulch once everything is planted
Don’t mind our crazy ass yard we have too much goin on
I think it is gorgeous! Don't think you have too much :)
I responded to a Craigslist post about perennials and drove 45 mins to end up meeting this woman who sold me plants and talked for an hour and 15 mins about all of the plants she had available and how they do in the garden
I love Craigslist amazing experience
Year 2 of this discount cactus I got
And all my cactuses that have been with me 3-5 years now
Gardening feels so rewarding I love this shit
Started from to go cup now we here
Perennial bachelors button blooming yippee!
Went on a crazy pruning and deadheading spree yesterday when I got home from work
I want my creeping phlox to take over, I don’t know if you usually have to deadhead it but I want it to go crazy
I think I’m going to go to a nursery later and pick up some annuals for more pots
Me when I’m leaving the country in less than a week
Yaaaaaasss
I’ve had t hi s for 3 years and finally planted it
Bloomed for the first time
Some of my terrariums with stuff I brought back from Japan
Me stealing the good gatchapon capsules to make terrariums with
My neighbours tomato plant seems to have spread seeds over to our side
Trying to hard launch myself out of seasonal depression by aggressive indoor gardening
Pulling a tree out of dormancy just to feel something
I need to update on that because the tree is big now
Fuck that groundhog I want spring
did they pass inspection
I believe so
My shit setup 😎
My lettuces
Whoever planted this tree is literally so fucked
Seeds fucking everywhere
Yooo
I think I am just going to put topsoil over the seeds and weed whatever germinates later
Starting a new terrarium
Also redoing this one with a pansy
Kirby and the isopods are going strong, I need to work on the pikmin
Everyone reading this start a terrarium
kirby has been imprisoned ..
how
Pls share how
I have a really cool Port bottle that I'm using for decoration, might make for a good terrarium
Yay!!! I’ll write something on my lunch break
Ok I did not do it then but I can now
I don’t use a drainage layer
Or the mesh or charcoal anymore honestly
I use a chunky mix of sterile soil, bark, leca, and perlite
I add some isopods and springtails also, you can usually find them in shady parts of a park or yard
Instead of watering I have been using a spray bottle to saturate about an inch deep in the soil
I also usually add some kind of fertilizer
I must give this a go soon!
Here's my very overgrown garden atm. There's some chives just beside the thyme that are getting bullied out. Need to cut that back along with the sage and rosemary. Hard to find a way to use all those herbs.
Then here's how the garden bed is looking. Just two plants didn't survive from last year which is good going!
Thanks, the choice of flowers though was all my gf / the local garden centre!
Let’s go your girlfriend and garden center employees
I am currently fucking up my yard
