#check box selection files like file explorer

Files already has check boxes, you should be able touch the file/folder icon to select
You can also access select all in the toolbar
is this, another bug in the column view?
They should show when hovering over a file thumbnail
It seems they don't show for the column layout, I'm guessing that is a bug, but select all should still work
Oh, I didn't realize we were talking about the Column View.
Multiselect isn't supported in the Column View
and is there a way to have a checkbox right on the left side of the "name"? The way it works currently feels a bit convoluted, like clicking three times in different positions, in comparison click touch keyboard click expand, click ctrl a is only four click
What do you mean?
meaning at least in other view, have a checkbox on the left side of the top row.
Ah, like this?

What's the Problem? In File Explorer, simply selecting the Group header when items are grouped selects all items in the group. This is not possible in Files. Solution/Idea I've come up with...
group header is nice to have, but I mean the top level of the current directory. Without this, it quickly falls into another hell of clicking around to disable grouping
This?
yes
We're tracking both requests there 👍
