For ideating while using Logseq, the use of a clean and plain canvas like to tldraw, excalidraw, or draw.io to visualize concepts... is useful.

Adding a plain canvas that will save its file to the assets would be nice

Do you intend something like obsidian canvas or like we have today on logseq MD? (Whiteboard)

Something like Obsidian Canvas, sure.

The Logseq whiteboard is a deeper integration, which I am referring to here.

Upvoted. DB version lacks Both the visual tools avaialble in the legacy version. This seriously hampers switching to the DB version for now. This is kinda sad. While the whiteboards might need more time coz of its deeper integration with the rest of logseq features, something like excalidraw should not be that difficult I assume. Any idea when it might happen or is it not in the priority for now @hollow spruce . Thanks

It’d be dope if the whiteboard/drawing would be integrated with NewTag property system.

I guess https://jsoncanvas.org was created for this exact use case

Never seen this before. Looks sick! As a developer, I want to add this to all the things.

The whiteboard in logseq md is actually great and has great features for research like being able to put separate blocks from notes and have a reference link to the source note. I wish it kept advanced functionality

Sure! But I guess the Logseq team has enough on their plate, the original whiteboard implementation was pretty good but then didn’t get any updates and I worry about getting my data out eventually. So i would like something future proof and simple.

I agree on the points of making it simple. I would generally tend to simplicity over custom features.

I like the fact that I can currently get logseq to work how I want but I also appreciate that with something like canvas that becomes a lot more complicated.

Something that I think is quite important with any sort of canvas and I think limits Logseq's canvas currently is the lack of keyboard integration.

I personally would be willing to sacrifice some of the freeform aspect to make it much more punchy because at the moment I feel I spend too much time thinking about positioning the nodes then is ideal.
(See Freemind as an example)

I appreciate that having a next and previous node on a canvas can limit the freeform experience that I canvas style system benefits from, but at the same time one thing I really enjoy about log soup is being able to quickly hit enter and or tab and make a new point or sub-point.

I feel it is doable with a level of hierarchy like Freemind. Or maybe just arrow keys that go to the next closest node.

I'd be happy to rough out an example of what I'm thinking of if there's any interest from the community and/or Devs
