#iPhone Upgrade

I'd say go for the 16 or 16 pro, it's still really good
Maybe a 15 Pro if you want a Pro phone but cannot afford the 16 Pro
But even the 15 Pros are harder to recommend now.
From a 14, I'd consider a 16 or 17 series of some kind. Depends on four questions.
- What is your use case?
- What is your budget?
- What are your needs?
- What features do you want/need?
how are they harder to recommend
they aren't that old
15 Pros aren’t as refined as the 16 Pros. And also OP is coming from a 14 so I’d believe a 16 Pro or some 17 series would be a better upgrade anyway
Like I just use it for little gaming (like daily angry birds), youtube and whatsapp
I’d probably recommend a 17. Maybe a 17e or a refurbished base 16. I don’t think you need a Pro level just for those tasks.
what features would u want?
16 or 17 pro would be a better upgrade for you.
For that use case, even a regular 17 would work fine.
Angry Birds probably doesn't need the extra power of the A19 Pro when the regular A19 does fine
16 pro is better than 17 though no?
it has better value for like similar price
In my opinion… only the camera and the LiDAR wins here, but iPhone 17 is way better since they brought Pro-Motion, and all that Pro stuff… as well as the A19 chip
well if u like titanium or aluminium more if titanium then 16 pro if aluminium the n 17, but 17 has better ceramic sheild 2 with 16 pro only ceramic sheild and 17 has a19 better than a18 pro and slightly better battery and has a better front camera 18mp with front staging but 16 pro has 4k 120fps whilst 17 only 4k 60fps, 16 pro has telephoto, optical zoom up to 5x in 16 pro, 16 pro has usb-3 support but 17 supports magsafe up to 25w and has more starting storage
Yeah I said except the camera
the 16 pro has usb-3 support bas 17 only 2
and if u like titanium more than 16 pro has it
USB-3 is just for faster file transfer, and a little faster charging
i guess its still an advantage
so both have their advantages and disadvantages
from eachother
Vastly depends on use case
If you care about the best cameras, I’d lean more towards the 16 Pro, but for most other people the 17 might be the best option
get a 17, don't bother with the pros at all
the usb standard has no effect on charging whatsoever
Especially for playing angry birds and youtube.
The tech community is filled with people who think Pro supremacy is good and the base is for "little children", it's leading to some, well, bad advice at times.
Even the 17e would work okay with that use case. Yet people insist on suggesting the Pros anyway
Pros are only really needed if you care about camera and screen quality and a phone that lasts 5+ years. The base 17 is probably the best base iPhone ever and I'll probably keep recommending it even in 2029
The base 17 is kinda like an iPhone 13 style upgrade in a way. Watch the base 17 still be attractive for the next 3 years.
i mean the screens on the base and pro are identical now
at least on the 17s
you are only getting an extra camera and some extra ram you won't feel any benefit from
I meant the 16 Pro, sorry
i got the pro so that i measure
you mean with the lidar?
ye
but since op's usecase is basic
17e is good enough for them if they want new
or 17 if 120hz
what if their budget isnt enough for 17
as the 17e is much lower
well then you don't have a choice
Always depends on the budget, if you have 600 don’t go for the 17e, go for 15 Pro so you will have every feature
It’s way better than the 17e ofc
what if they want new though
15 pro is used
And? You can get refurbished as well, cause you will have a better phone
If you want a new so much… then buy it but I don’t think it’s worth it
im not OP
I’m talking in general
15 pro has less software updates no?
17e gets longer software
For two years less? You earn more performance, sometimes… 120Hz, Dynamic Island, Titanium, 3 Cameras, and ultra wide as well…
that is a long time tbh
both have their advantages
if one cares more for features than software updates
then 15 pro
if one just wants longer updates 17e
You will still get 5 years of software support, I don’t think it’s a short time..
sorry i meant two years less of support is a big gap
but anywayd
the 17e and 15 pro have both advantages and dis
