Should I pick Air m4 (2025) or Air m5 (2026)

Hey guys.
I’m thinking about buying a MacBook mainly for coding and school, but I’m not sure which one to choose. Should I go for the 15-inch MacBook Air with the M4 chip (2025) or the 15-inch MacBook Air with the M5 chip (2026)? There’s about a ~$300 price difference. I’d really appreciate some advice

Depends on what kind of coding you'll do, but the M5 is definitely worth it

The base M5 comes with 512GB which is extremely helpful as the 256GB on the M4 base is not enough for many coding use cases

True, but honestly if you can spend the extra money I'd get 512GB internal anyway. Even if it's still an M4

M4 512GB models are still a bit cheaper than the M5, even if the price gap is a bit smaller due to the extra upgrades

I know some devs who are struggling badly with 256GB internal so I'd suggest spending extra on 512GB, or even more ideally on an M5 which comes with 512GB standard
