Considering buying the iPhone 17 Pro

Im considering upgrading from iphone 14 pro max (82% battery health) to 17 pro on a 3 year monthly contract. I'll be using it heavily on a daily basis, I want to ask if its better idea to buy it now or wait until 18 pro releases then purchase it but by then the trade in value for my 14 pro max would've dropped from 300 to even lower. please share your thoughts

just to mention, my current battery is horrible, tbh im upgrading for the newer battery and AI features mostly

Yeah, my main concern is whether I’d actually get enough extra value by waiting for the iPhone 18 pro because apparently its supposed to have 2nm chip.

The 14 Pro Max didn't have great battery life even then. I think you'd be doing yourself a huge favor by upgrading to the 17 Pro now

Did it really not have great battery? This whole time I thought it had one of the best for some reason

I’ll definitely consider the upgrade I’ll give mac rumours a few more chances to leak some more stuff about the 18 then make the decision

The A16 chip in the 14 Pros were notorious for heat problems. Which often resulted in worse battery compared to the 13PM. Not to mention faster battery degradation

The 17 Pros have proven really solid though. Runs cool, long battery, etc.

The smaller 17 Pro can last longer than the 14 Pro Max I've noticed

How well do you think 17 pro will be able to run siri LLM when it releases (just a prediction)

If you're talking about the new improved 26.4 Siri, then the 17 Pro would run it very well. In fact, the 15 Pros could run it too.

Thats good to hear, the only thing I’m a bit considered about it that the 2nm chip is suppose to give 18s 20-30% more battery efficiency, with that reason alone dont you think the best choice would be to stay put for its release

While you could wait for the 18 Pros if you wanted to, the 17 Pros are still solid

Yeah I just think the 18 line up will be a generational leap in battery health and thats the main spec i look for thats why I’m taking so long deciding between 17 & 18

If it wasnt for the 2nm chip i’d obviously go for the 17, but I wont be upgrading for 5-7 years so having 2nm will allow it to keep up with next generation phones even when it gets old
