#Siri doesn't remember contacts

When I ask to call my mom/dad whatever, Siri asks me for their contacts, then asks me if I'd like it to remember. However:

  • On my Mac, it does remember their contacts, and make the call right away
  • On my iPhone and iPad, it doesn't. Even if I have previously confirmed, it would always ask for their contacts before calling.
    -# Note: On the left video, recorded on Mac, is expected behavior, where it just calls my mom right away. In the right video from my iPhone, even though Siri had asked whether I'd like it to remember my mom, it still asked me the second time I asked it to call her.

the Siri on my Mac automatically calls my mom despite it was the first time I've used Siri on this Mac, and I think it's like that because I prompted Siri to remember my mom on my phone and it synced. but then it only works on the Mac and not my iPhone

The problem is that I don't name my parents using their real names, and they aren't in English

Make “Mom” her nickname

It’s in the phone app or contacts app, when you edit the contact

Then Siri will show “Mom” everywhere instead of her actual name

But if you want you can disable the nickname being used everywhere, but you can still ask Siri to “Call Mom” and she’ll know who you’re talking about
