Hi, so I just downloaded the public beta on my Air M2 ipad and apparently I have character preview on my default, I can’t find the toggle to turn it off anywhere
Is this a bug or?
Thanks!

I see this option on my iPhone but not my iPad. It seems they never added that option for the iPad - probably because it's not needed on the full sized keyboard. I'd submit a report to Apple in the Feedback application saying that the option to disable these previews is not there for the compact keyboard on iPad.

i don’t have the feedback app either cause i was looking for it
i tried chatting with them and they said that i should downgrade to 18.5 and that apple doesn’t encourage getting the beta

Hi, what you're seeing is not the "character preview" option, which is only available on iPhone, because of its limited display. What you're seeing on your iPad is Predictive Text, where the system tries to figure out what your next word might be, and show it so that you can tap it instead of having to type the whole word. In iOS/iPadOS 26, it can sometimes even predict whole phrases.
You have it turned on in your settings screenshots.
There is another, related setting that is available in some language keyboards, called "Show Predictions Inline", where instead of showing the predictions above the keyboard, it shows them in the text box where you are typing, as slightly dimmed text ahead of the cursor. Pressing space causes the predicted text to be accepted.
