My airpods pro (1st gen) started making a crackling sound when I switch to Noise Cancellation or Transparency mode, is it possible to fix it without a hardware repair?

#

any help?

This is a known hardware defect with the AirPods Pro (1st gen)—especially affecting units manufactured before October 2020.

You could check Apple’s AirPods Pro service program

Apple has an official replacement program for this exact issue:

• Covers crackling/static, ANC not working, etc.

• Applies to AirPods Pro 1st gen made before Oct 2020.

• Free replacement even out of warranty (as long as they’re under the program).

You can take them to an Apple Store or an Authorized Service Provider, and they’ll test & replace the bad bud(s) for free if they qualify.

There isn’t much of a way to fix them yourself, it’s a hardware defect

Should be added: "This worldwide Apple program doesn't extend the standard warranty coverage of the AirPods Pro.

The program covers affected AirPods Pro for 3 years after the first retail sale of the unit."

It has been more than 3 years so it's more than likely going to get rejected
