Messages issue: If your messages are syncing in iCloud, any messages you delete from your MacBook would also be deleted on other iCloud devices, including your iPhone.

Mail issue: The Mail app keeps a local copy of all your emails and attachments for offline access.

Messages issue: If the messages are syncing in iCloud, it’ll probably also be deleted in iCloud.

Mail issue: Do you have any email/calendar accounts linked?

assuming you enabled mail access, it’s probably downloading some emails from your Google account. Unless it does that regardless of mail being enabled or not

The storage taken by #1 is not specifically related to iCloud Mail. It is the storage used by the Mail app on your device, including any cached / downloaded mail regardless of source.

Are you not using the Mail app?

#

You should not delete files in system folders directly.

In the case of Mail, if you’re not using the application, you should just remove the accounts from the app in settings
