my phone automatically updated to ios 18.2 with the new mail app and now 9,000 of my emails have been deleted out of existence, not in junk/trash or any other folders. after checking my email through my provider (yahoo), they are still there. it’s been randomly deleting emails on all 3 of my accounts, anybody else having this issue and know a fix/the cause? (please @ me with any responses ty)

Hi there, it wasnt automatically deleted, all your emails are currently being processed and/or sorted into different categories (syncing) and this syncing process would need to be complete before you could see all your emails categorised into different sections like promotions, inbox, transactions, etc,
I had the same issue where after updating, my mails went from 4000+ emails to 432 emails, but after the syncing process completed and categorization was done, everything came back .
So just wait, let your phone be connected to a stable wifi network, plugged into power especially at night and be idle and just let it sync and categorise them all for you
