try changing the display settings. go to Settings > displays and click on your external display to change resolution and other settings.
mac computers have weird scaling issues with low resolution monitors (including 1080p monitors). it is reccomended to get a higher resolution 4k display to use with mac computers
Just make sure that the resolution settings match your display’s characteristics. Sometimes, depending on how you connected to it, your Mac might not receive configuration info from the display, so you have to do it manually.
Also, you might need to use the Advanced.. button in Displays and select “Show resolutions as list” in order to see the resolutions to select from.
This effect usually has more to do with the connection method to connect the display than anything else -- for example, many people, including me, use a USB C dongle that has an HDMI port on it. While most work well, some don't receive and pass back to the mac the list of the various resolutions & refresh rates the display supports, so the Mac just defaults to something low resolution & safe, since a crappy presentation is better than a blank screen. 🙂
i have a 1440p monitor and its sharp as hell with windows
I'll try this
