It would depend on your budget, the specs you would need but as a computer major you would be needing something really decent let’s have a look at the MacBook M2’s it’s light, it’s portable , the performance is top powered by the m2 chip, great for computer tasks, running virtual machines and so much more. And as for battery life that’s great as well, I have the m2 Mac as well and it’s just sooo great, I code, run my programs on it and other things and it never lags and depending on what storage make sure to go for the 16GB ram version
Now for the MacBook m3, it’s powered by the m3 chip obviously with just a slight improvement in efficiency over the m2 . For tasks that involve graphics the m3 is good for that and a better battery compared to the m2
You can read more here and compare both models
If you want something that fits your budget the m2 is just great and you would still get everything you need from a computer for a computer science major like yourself
the one you have currently is pro right
I have the regular m2 MacBook and it’s great
However since your inclined to computer science majorly you would want something better and that has great power and efficiency the MacBook m2 pro is also an alternative make sure it’s the 16GB variant
bcuz the 16gb ram is out of my budget
it’s like where am at it’s double the price the 8 gb ram
then sure, the 8GB RAM would do just fine for you, its the same i have and its been great!
cuz i heard pros are like on top they are powertful then after it is the air like my budget is around the m3 air and m2 pro 8 gb
also its budget friendly, but still does all the task well
Whether you using VScode, python IDE , Firefox, chrome, chronium, etc, it runs smoothly
m3 air 8GB as well innit?
na m3 air 8gb or 16 gb
they got good prices for the m3 air 16gb ram
16GB buddy, go for that
so i skip on the pro and go for the m3 air 16gb
Yes, it would still be able to run everything, except your not planning on running graphics intensive tasks, then the pro is suited for that
the Macbook air m3 also comes with Hardware-accelerated ray tracing
it’s 512 gb too with a good price for the m3 air 16 gb ram
cuz i have my brother he got the m2 pro but 8gb he did business tech and took also a 1 year computer major i think
so that’s like 5 years
and till this day the macbook looks fine like it’s brand new
the running graphics intensive tasks is it like imp or nah
but when i go to the store id also ask them so dw bout it
nahh, eg rendering a video from After effects, and other video editing softwares.
sure then.
but i won’t need it for my major right like its not imp
no you wouldnt, the m3 air 16GB is absolutely perfect as a comp sci major
well thank you so much brother
your welcome buddy
Honestly idk, I have m2 air 16 and maybe sometimes I want to play the lightest games and it heats and I miss fans :(
yes that’s the problem i just found out the fans
trust me if your not running intense games you dont have to worry, yeah its fanless, but it wouldnt heat up as much as u think it would its pretty effiecient
nah i wont play games on it im just using it only for university and maybe on free time id use it to watch like netflix youtube
It will heat up even with non intense games
It’s good to have a game controller so hands don’t feel the heat of the keyboard
i play non intense games on my m2 mac and it doesnt heat up , ( i have a ps5 controller)
then you have nothing to worry about buddy! i
interesting
