#fix time on iPhone 1st gen

having the device reset itself to January 2000 is basically a pretty good indicator that's the phone is just losing all power at some point which resets the real time clock. Considering that the battery in that thing is pretty much 15 years older this point, I'm not even remotely surprised
now there is a big difference between the devices time drifting on its own while it's completely powered on and you know it's working vs just resetting itself to January every now and then.
the first option usually is going to be failure of the real time clock which again, 15-year-old phone what do you expect. Only solution to that is to basically get another logic board which is debateable if it's worth the time and effort.
Yeah it happens when powered down
Battery life isn’t bad on it tbh but for a nearly 17 year old phone it is gonna have issues
realistically speaking even if the battery was perfectly working and the real time clock did keep itself up, the phone itself is basically useless and pretty much none of the Internet connected services work anymore. I would just be happy that it turns on at all
if you can find a broken first generation iPhone somewhere for not too much money and you want to project device then sure you can screw around and swap things and see if maybe something happens but if it's more than like 20 bucks it's questionable if it's worth it
