With AirPods in general, you can’t force them to update. They kinda just do it in the background.
If you want to try to get them to do this process faster. You can place them near your iPhone and have them charging. Another method is plugging them in your Mac. (Remember to place them in their case)
Okay, you don’t have an idea on like how long I need to let them lay beside my phone, or leave them plugged in my Mac?
There really isn't a specific time really, you can give it 15 mins or so and then check on them
To check the AirPods Max's firmware version from the Mac. Connect your AirPods Max, then open System Settings, then scroll down to the bottom where you will see a section for your AirPods Max. Then once in that section scroll to the bottom and you should see the firmware version.
Alright! Thanks🙌🏼
No problem!
Sorry, I don’t see the section for AirPods at the bottom in system preferences
They have to be connect through Bluetooth to the Mac
So unplug them and place them on your head
I did, couldn’t find them
Hmm, did you scroll to the bottom (with the sidebar)?
If it doesn’t show up, you can check on your iPhone @grizzled wasp
Yep, i checked on my phone. But still an older firmware. So I don’t know what to try anymore. Might just take them to an Apple Store and see if they can help me there.
It’s just that the microphone sounds like ass, and I was hoping that would change with updated firmware
Apple should be able to do it

They still work, but it’s just the little thing that annoys me
I reckoned, so I’ll just have to see what they say
Oh dang that’s old firmware
Yeah, take it in
