I'm on a macbook air with M3 and I've been interested in looking into virtual machines to be able to run windows and I was wondering what the best options were. I tried looking online but it was very unclear…I was also wondering if it would be at all possible to run minecraft bedrock edition (not available on macOS) on a virtual machine like this? (I also wasn't sure if I should put this in tech support or here, because I might have to buy something?)

parallels
I’ve heard of that but it’s pretty expensive, right?
It is a bit expensive . I think there is a good alternative that’s free to use but I’m not sure if it’ll run the game you want to run
Same, I am looking for somewhat a basic VM that I need it to be free, but I got an M1 MacBook
Is VMware fusion available for apple silicon
Yes
How would I get it? And how much is it?
It’s free
Personally haven’t tried it but I assume it’s a free version of parallels (which I have tried)
Give it a shot & see
There are ways to get parallels for free but you are gonna have to find out how to do so yourself bc it is a banned topic
I will, thanks!
UTM is another good one I use. its free and it runs all versions of windows through its qemu engine.
I use it too. Not as feature rich as Parallels (specifically with Windows) but compatibility and price is great (y’know, free)
OK, VMware seems to be a free 30 day trial then it’s quite expensive…
