#Upgrading all my Apple devices

Hey y'all, i got around 8,000 USD saved up (from tutoring, not daddy's money) and i'm trying to upgrade all my devices. In the upcoming summer, I start highschool and need a good PC for editing video. I also play basketball for around 20 hours per week. (I also use my desktop for coding so I'd like some input on coding and programming on mac and how that works; is it easier or harder on Mac or Windows. I'm learning C++ currently). What is the best combination of things to purchase since the last time I really spent my saved up money was a couple years ago. I currently have a:

iPhone 7 Plus
iPad Pro with M1 chip
no Apple Watch
Macbook Air 2019 (13 inch)
Airpod Pros 2nd Gen (lightning port)
And a windows desktop for gaming + coding but thats not really relevant for this.

I find myself using my ipad quite a bit just for drawing, but also more as a laptop as the 2019 Air isn't cutting it for me.

Note: I have asthma and had prior breathing problems so the apple watch is pretty important for me. Im not sure if the Ultra 2 is too overkill or not though so thats something.

Hey! Here are the things I believe you currently don't need to upgrade as of now:

  • iPad
  • AirPods

Now for the things you should look into upgrading:

  • iPhone
  • MacBook

For a new iPhone, I would suggest either the 15 or 15 Pro, all comes down to preference and use case. You can also change the screen size with preference (6.1" or 6.7" for either model)

For a new Mac, it boils down to how you use it. If you don't need much power, then I'd suggest getting the M2 MacBook Air. If you need more power, then I'd suggest the M3 MacBook Pro. Of course, you can get either sizes (13" or 15" for Air, 14" or 16" for Pro) depending on your preferences and needs.

On the subject of getting an Apple Watch, if you do care about battery life, then you could look into the Ultra, as any other use case that it's designed for is for extreme sports (unless you're into that). If you don't need that extra battery life, then you could just get the Series 9 and be completely fine.

In sum:

  • iPhone 7 Plus --> iPhone 15 OR 15 Pro
  • 2019 Macbook Air --> M2 MacBook Air OR M3 MacBook Pro
  • Apple Watch Series 9 OR Ultra 2

because it starts off with 32 but goes to 96

polar gale

Whatever you believe is best.

#

I would go for around the middle in my opinion, so 64 GB if that's an option.

elder thicket
#

what would be the practical use of 96

polar gale
elder thicket

elder thicket

can you make the call on how long you think it would last

#

i dont have much experience with macs

#

only 2 years ive owned a 5 year old mac

polar gale
#

For an M3 Max with 64 GB of RAM, you could probably cruise for a good few years.

#

I'm also a first time Mac owner, and my M1 MacBook Air has been running fine since launch day.

elder thicket
#

alright

The 16s aren’t rumoured to be worth much over the 15s anyway

elder thicket

Gonna be tough losing the home button though

polar gale

I dumped my old 7 Plus last year and I have no regrets.
