so I just recently found out that the developer beta profile for HomePod and tvOS are discontinued. So I don't know how to get the new developer beta for HomePod on my device. Does anybody know how to do this? Without that profile, I don't know what to do. Does it work with your phone or is there some kind of code that I'm missing here?

Wouldn’t do it for HomePod bc beta updates are notorious for bricking new features in future updates

#

For tvOS, enroll your phone in the developer beta. Then on your tv, go to settings > software update > and then turn on beta

#

Now you should be able to decide the beta channel

Which HomePod do you have @old pumice

HomePod mini new model

You want the dev or public beta?

old pumice
#

The dev beta.

tired lintel
#

Is your Apple ID enrolled in the developer beta program

old pumice
#

No, but I have access to the developer beta on my phone with the dev free access.

tired lintel
#

That’s the method where you have a profile installed right?

old pumice
#

I don’t have a profile that’s the problem, if I log into my account it doesn’t give me the option for it.

#

But it lets me do the others just fine.

I think Apple changed that. When I signed up for the Public beta. I went on their beta website. Signed in with my Apple ID. Then all of my devices had a built in option in settings to turn “beta updates” on.

#

It didn’t require a profile

take a look at this

old pumice
#

That’s what I get.

tired lintel
#

Looks like beta profiles were finished off in iOS 16.4

dim sinew
#

exactly, read the message on the website

old pumice
#

Yeah, Ik that. But I have access to the developer account betas. I don’t know how to get the HomePod access.

dim sinew
#

you are outta luck, use the public beta

tired lintel
#

The public beta gave me access to the HomePod beta easily

dim sinew
#

or get an apple developer account and see what you can do there if you are that dedicated

tired lintel
#

Along with all of my other devices

not much else to tell ya, sorry

old pumice
#

Ohhh, ok. So the main 5 are free with just signing for free dev access but HomePod you still need the paywall?

dim sinew
#

either pony up for the dev account or stay on public betas

tired lintel
old pumice
#

Right, that’s what I’m saying.

tired lintel
#

You don’t need to pay $99 unless it’s for submitting applications

dim sinew
#

dev betas are free on anything thats not homepod afaik

dim sinew
#

yes even airpods

tired lintel
#

Then you need to get the public beta for that @old pumice

old pumice
#

Ohhh, ok. That makes sense. Ok im cool with that.

#

I just wanted to make sure that I wasn’t being locked out for anything for no reason. I will make this resolved for my sake than. Thx!

All you got to do is go to https://developer.apple.com then go click on Account, then sign up using your Apple ID. Once that is done, go to the home app, then software update, then “HomePod Beta Updates”. Turn it on the HomePod you wish to update.

Apple Developer

There’s never been a better time to develop for Apple platforms.

#

On the Apple TV, go to settings > system > software update, wait a bit for “get beta updates” to appear, then click it, then click “developer beta”

#

No profiles needed. They do exist, but not necessary anymore

tired lintel
#

@old pumice Looks like @maiden wolf may have a solution

old pumice
#

But I’ve already tried that, and and it still shows public beta

maiden wolf
#

I just looked, developer betas don’t exist for HomePods, just public beta. It shows in #📅│releases because HomePod software is the same exact codebase as tvOS, and the way the bot is set up doesn’t know how to differentiate HomePod software and tvOS.

#

The “developer beta profile” for HomePod software was a modified version of the public beta to get the update early. It isn’t signed by Apple anymore so it’s unfortunately impossible to get the developer beta as of right now…
