#Siri calling random contact numbers

I have Apple AirPods (2nd Gen) and iPhone 13 max pro. For the last month, Siri started calling random numbers from my contacts haphazardly without me asking, talking, or even mentioning the name of the person in anyway. It just starts a phone call out of the blue and even doesn’t respond when I ask to cancel the call unless I grab the phone and cancel it myself.

This is only happening when I’m wearing the AirPods. I’m on iOS 17.0.3. Anyone has this issue and knows what could be the solution? Thanks!

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. It seems like there could be a few potential causes. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Check your Siri settings: Make sure that the settings related to Siri and calls are correctly configured. You can do this by going to Settings > Siri & Search > Announce Calls and selecting the appropriate option.

  2. Check your Bluetooth devices: The issue could be related to your Bluetooth device. Try disconnecting your AirPods and then reconnecting them. If the problem persists, try using your AirPods with another device to see if the issue is with the AirPods themselves.

  3. Check for physical issues: If you're using a headset with a button that activates Siri or Voice Control, it's possible that this button is being pressed accidentally or is malfunctioning.

  4. Update your device: Ensure your iPhone and AirPods are updated to the latest software version. Sometimes, bugs are fixed in these updates.

  5. Reset your AirPods: If none of the above steps work, you might want to try resetting your AirPods. Here's how:

    • Put your AirPods in their case and close the lid.
    • Wait 30 seconds, then open the lid.
    • On your iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
    • Tap the "i" icon next to your AirPods, then tap "Forget This Device".
    • Follow the steps to set up your AirPods again.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, I recommend contacting Apple Support directly for further assistance. They may be able to provide more specific troubleshooting steps for your device than I can.

@mild pecan Thank you very much for your help. I tried all what you mentioned few times before. I also took the AirPod to Apple store and talked with Apple support on chat and phone, but none of them was able to give a solution. My last hope is that I updated the AirPod firmware a couple days ago and also update to iOS 17.1 yesterday, so hopefully one of these will help fix the issue. Thank you again!
