I have iPhone 14 pro max -
Suddenly out of the blue the microphone stopped working on phone calls. I was 17.0.2 - I upgraded to 17.0.3 in hopes it’d solve the problem but it didn’t .
Worth to mention that the microphone works perfectly fine on WhatsApp, Skype etc.
And on the formal phone app, the microphone doesn’t work, neither speaker or AirPods.
Anyone else suffers from this issue ?

I have seen this happen on FaceTime with a family member, are you able to turn it on from the call screen or does it not let you?
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your iPhone 14 Pro Max microphone. This seems to be a known issue¹. Here are a few suggestions that might help:
- Restart your device: This can often resolve many issues.
- Check for obstructions: Try removing your iPhone 14 Pro case or screen protector that could be covering your speakers and iSight mic.
- Test Your iPhone 14 Pro Max Microphone: Testing microphones individually helps locate or rule out problems with any specific microphone.
- Reset All Settings: This won't delete any data, but it will reset all system settings to their defaults.
- Update to iOS 17.1: Bug fixes came along with iOS 17.1 yesterday. Try updating.
If none of these solutions work, I recommend reaching out to Apple Support for further assistance. I hope this helps!
