Okay, well it's probably an issue with the driver itself. Try to find another clean install if Windows 7.

If not, then I genuinely don't know what the issue is. Older Macs are harder to deal with when it comes to switching OS's.
I wouldn't recommend that, because if Windows 7 couldn't install, but 8 could, it's probably because your Mac doesn't support older versions of Windows.
