I’m on iOS 17 beta 7 and my flashlight stopped working randomly. I turned it on for a few seconds then suddenly went out never to be turned on again. Not sure if this is fixable through a software update or would this be more of a hardware issue and I would need to take it into Apple for repairs? I already tried a simple restart and that didn’t correct the issue either. If it could be hardware related, any idea how much it would cost for Apple to fix my problem that I am experiencing? I also have Apple Care+ on my device as well.

Have you tried to take a picture with the flash to see if it's still operational?
Yes, I tried it via on Snapchat and the flash on the camera doesn’t work either.
That points more on the hardware side. If you have Apple Care+ and it's defective they should fix it with only charging your deductable. Of course, because it's on a beta they might ask you to restore and go back to stable firmware.
If you have a local Apple Store just go in and see what they can do.
I would double check using the native camera app just to be sure.
Yea I tried it in the native camera app and the flash didn’t work either.
I'm leaning toward hardware problem sadly. You could confirm by restoring to stable iOS but if it were me I'd just go to the Apple Store. Surely they can determine that without making you restore.
I would make sure your iCloud backup is done before going in just in case.
Their solution could be to give you a replacement device, so be prepared.
Or, they will want to repair it (and might ship it off site) to replace the part. In that scenario you'll be phoneless for a few days.
If it fails a diagnostic relating to hardware, a repair will require you restore the phone to 16 so I would be prepared to do that if need be
Ok thanks, I’ll see what I can do. Or can I wait until next month and trade in my device with my carrier and upgrade to the 15s when they come out?
If it's a hardware issue your carrier might flag it during QA and reduce your trade-in value or reject the trade-in all together.
I would advise dealing with this while it's still under Apple Care+.
Contacted my carrier and told me under some circumstances they can trade in any condition/damaged model phone
Some promotions require the trade to be in good working and cosmetic condition, meaning:
The device can power on
The screen is free of cracks and functioning correctly
The battery is free of damage
The activation lock is turned off (i.e., Find My iPhone / Activation Lock, not to be confused with pattern, face ID, number lock, etc.)
Some promotions allow for "Any Condition" or "Damaged Device" trade-ins.
QA?
Quality Assurance, I guess
DFU restore your shit to get off of beta since Apple will not service beta devices, set it up without Apple ID and just see if your flashlight begins to work. If it does then great, if it doesn't then bring it into Apple and they will replce a part called the Rear System, which consists of pretty much every part of the phone except the display and the rear camera. Have a back up ready because the rear system service 100% of the time will not have your data back on it since it's literally replacing 90% of the phone
