Applecare just augments the warranty so that its BETTER than the original limited warranty. You only have a certain amount of time to purchase it so that's where they get it.

for clarity, its better b/c AC+ typically covers most accidental damages and sometimes even liquid damage. whereas the regular warranty does not.

regular warranty only covers issues that come from the device. Apple Care also covers screen damage (in part) and a lot more

replaces normal warranty altogether. still 2 years total. Yu can extend it once it runs out in certain countries
