Hi there, yes you should buy the MacBook Air M2 as it's the latest MacBook Air released from Apple. I am currently using MacBook Air M1 and a MacBook Pro M2 and there's not much of a difference between performance but if your in a budget go for the MacBook Air M1 if you looking to invest more into then go for the M2 Air.

It just depends on what you gonna use it for if it's light work M1 Air, more intensive work then M2 Air.

if u get 256gb storage on the m2, it'll be 1/2 as fast as the m1

In Australia MacBook Air M1 is by far the cheapest
