I'm far into the game and have competed the quest to unlock Zyniums. For some reason today, the upgrade is missing. I ascended to see if it was due to getting the quests from the hiker but it's still not there.

Its not a matter of not being able to purchase it. I have bought it for the last several ascensions except for at some point today I noticed I didn't have it so I ascended and the purchase option isn't even there.
