I've encounterd countless times where when in the middle of a frenzy of me just jumping up and down, the coimbo mode randomly deactivates when it still was in the middle or 3/4 of the circle

The description of the skill says you can't miss coins

However, when you do, nothing happens, only sometimes it stops

If Frenzy is happening your Coimbo is preserved.
Otherwise, the coimbo is interrupted when the coin / gemstone despawns.
