#Ascending Heights 2000m+ frustration

after 2000m only moving, fragile and a few boost platforms spawn and the spacing is unforgiving cause you can only get 1 available platform to jump to. My problem is that 2 times today (played 5-6 in total) i got an unbeatable situation where dew to the speed cap i couldn't get to the platform above cause the platforms where at opposite sides of the screen and close to max height difference. Don't get me wrong, i like the difficulty and i don't think it should get easier but in this case i think the jumps where impossible or pretty close to it.

one way to fix this would be to increase the max speed of the character, if not in the entire minigame, in the 2000m+ range so that these jumps are possible
another could be to change the spawning mechanic to somehow avoid these situations (although im not sure how that would be possible cause of the moving platforms)

i also have the feeling that there is a difference between pc and smartphone because if your watching a pc video you can see that there is a difference in how far you can see with your screen. Also if it would be the same then the character would look deformed but its the same and on Pc you can force different screenformats

I assume that the character speed adjusts according to your phone's orientation

93 clears now - I'd say the player is about 30% faster than the moving platforms near the end
Had no trouble keeping up with / ahead of them

it is possible the aspect ratio also plays a role
My computer uses an old 4:3 (?) monitor

mobile. Steam I cleared 1st try no issue.
It could be all the experience I had on mobile tho

it didn't feel much different, just using arrow keys instead of a finger on each side

the thing that makes it even worse is that my phone has a shieldedscreen and sometimes there is a mistake. it didnt affect me much in other minigames but in this its crucial.

For me, it's when I happen to press down a finger on each side at the same time. The way Unity handles this is that it does switch direction for the second finger, but once either one is lifted all movement stops.
It was responsible for quite a few of my losses when the game came out.

Same and I consciously lift my fingers higher off my screen which seemed to help. Definitely got better over time but as I get closer to the top and the excitement kicks in, I still get a little trigger happy and double tap every now and again.

Don't know much about unity but is that something the dev can fix on their end so that when you lift one finger off it just doesn't stop the movement altogether? Or just have to deal?

i think it would be much better if there are buttens to press in the game. theres a lot of space left and right on the screen so you can place them there.

I assume the buttons would have to be next to each other in order for this to be different. Makes sense, it would be difficult to hit two distinct buttons with one finger. Maybe something like this on both sides so people can choose what side is more comfortable. Using my imagination during my last AH and, its not a terrible feel.

All that said, I also think that some would argue that most AH posts are skill issues but doesn't mean it can't be improved

because the screenbuttons only work when you press on them, its about limiting the area where the input of the game works so you can touch the screen by accident and nothing happens

and you can make it possible to choose in the option menu what side you prefer.

i would also suggest that instead of increasing the hight you could just turn off the boosting platforms, or add a timer to it so players have to play risky to make it in time. there are so much more options possible. Or you add different levels to the minigame with all mashed together, i think that would be the best idea.

i think the best experiance with this minigame would be that you feel like getting rushed instead of slowed down gameplay. short but intense.

2500 m but there are only Red platforms and moving Red platforms and crumbling platforms ... also in color red...

Or spirit boosts in the Level and New Types of platforms ... like a Blue one with extra boost or clear platforms or diagonal bouncing objects or enemies etc..

@ancient wind well if you want it like that you can color the playersfigure and make it switch like every 5 seconds from red, blue, yellow and the plattforms have different colors and you can only stand on the right color that fits the figures color 🙂
