I had the same problem as I was in party with Clark for the first time.
On his screen he had his yellow car back and only changed the topper. He was level 53.
On my screen tho I could see his probably old car in blue/dark with the new equipped topper.
But he was also level 1 for me.
At least after one match I was able to see his actual level again.
