I'm really struggling with finishing this piece because I'm not able to render the hands good enough to the point where it doesn't conflict with the rest of the piece/style, the attempts I previously made didn't look like fingers because I'm not sure where/how to start with the details and I've spent already too much time and references didn't really help. Pretty much I have no idea how to render them especially in greyscale and any guidance on how to make them look more like fingers or whatever is appreciated, also I'm making a fist now because I felt it might be easier to render. If you'd like you can draw over it or whatever, I just need help knowing when to start and how to make details so it isn't just shaded cylinders

#

also any general feedback/critique on the entire piece too is appreciated!

Hi ! I'm not that good at drawing hands either, but I want to share what helps me to shade hands, I hope it can help

#

Usually I start with outlining the shape first, to seperate each finger, I use a pretty dark shade for it. I also shape the glove near the knuckle to be more circular, to follow the shape of the finger

I'm not so sure if the triangular shape on the glove supposed to be a slit, but if it is, I saw from your previous hand that the slit is on top of the back hand, so I move the slit on the fisted hand to be on top of the palm, not the side

Ye it’s a slit

When the shape is correct, I soften the outline using a lighter shade, but still a darker value compare to the base shade

I often look at my hand for reference, but yea drawing hand is a struggle lol but I hope it helps a little
