you need mysql to act as the storage interface between the webserver and the mcserver

it can be installed on either one of the servers, just make sure both the webserver and the mc server can reach them

I'd say put it on the webserver, cus then the map will load if already rendered faster, as it will take less distance and time to get the tiles
