⛔️ BEFORE YOU READ: Some terms in this glossary may be dubious. They shall be marked with a “⚠️” symbol, usually with a short explanation as to why they’re suspicious.
A
-
All Day Awareness (ADA)
A method coined by KingYoshi on DreamViews back in the day. As the name implies, the technique involves being aware all day, in hope of the same activity happening in your dreams.
⚠️ This technique is controversial. I hear many people claiming the effort-to-results ratio is bad, and others say that the technique doesn’t even work at all. There is also a heated debate as to what “awareness” exactly means, which I won’t be explaining the details of.

Autosuggestion
A method of self-hypnosis involving the subtle repetition of phrase(s).
⚠️ Often confused with #1131422059453489192 .

B
- Binaural Beats
A binaural beat is a type of auditory illusion, where 2 different frequencies are played through each ear.
⚠️ For simplicity sake, I won’t be going into the specifics of binaural beats. However, know that the clickbait binaural beats videos you see on YouTube are pseudoscience at best; you might as well ignore binaural beats on your lucid dreaming journey.

Combined Technique
A method by Paul Tholey. It combines aspects of both criticality & intention techniques into one highly effective practice.

Count Yourself to Sleep
One of the many mental tasks you can perform during a WILD attempt. Developed by Stephen LaBerge. The premise is simple -- count numbers. The upside with this, is that you can more easily gain intel on how long it takes you to fall asleep, by remembering the last number you counted before falling asleep.
⚠️ I do hear some talk about people disliking this technique. Also, this was made before the term "anchor" was coined.

Critical State Testing
A method of self-reflection, centered on a conscious and critical questioning of which state you're in: waking or dreaming, including attention to oddities that have a high chance of happening in a dream.

Custom Alarm Noise Wake-Initiated Lucid Dream (CANWILD)
Similar to https://discord.com/channels/722272427354357771/1131430948873978007 , this method involves re-asserting the REM stage of sleep, directly after you wake up. Except, CANWILD utilizes custom alarms to do so.

Cycle Adjustment Technique (CAT)
A method by Daniel Love involving adjusting your sleep cycles.
⚠️ This method could cause serious sleep deprivation if done incorrectly, and since this server is full of teenagers who don't understand the consequences of bad sleep health, I will not be providing resources for this one.
