So this is a completely irrelevant question. But I've never actually paid any attention to the cutscene where Gael teleports you there. However it looks like he teleports you with a fish scale lol. I was just wondering if anyone knows what it actually is

Its a scrap of the Ariandel painting. I believe he says something along the lines of "a rotted scrap of the painting" before he beckons you to touch it.
