What does drawing out your true strength do?

I've recently began undead settlement and I met this scarecrow looking npc with a walking stick. I spoke to him and he went to firelink. When I spoke to him at Firelink, there was an option called 'Draw out your ture strenth'. Idk what it does, should i do it?

This will allow you to level up 5 times for free , but you'll go hollow. Everytime you'll die , you'll receive hollow points (maximum 99). You can level up when you have hollow points 0 , 3 , 5 , 10 , 15. This is related to the quest

Also , play the game by yourself , asking everything would literally ruin your fun
