#General questions on speed running the game

Hello I am interested in starting to speedrun dark souls 3, I have several questions, but first here are some details:

  • I plan on trying to run the Any% glitchless category (and maybe the all bosses later on if I like it)
  • I don't plan on ever submitting any runs to leader boards, this is purely for fun and personal achievement
  • I don't have any mods installed but I would rather avoid downloading any and possibly risk losing all my saves
  • I don't intend on down patching for 2 reasons : I don't want to risk my saves, and I also like doing random challenge runs here and there, and changing versions every time seems like a hassle
  • I have never played online and don't have any plans to do so in the near future
  • I have already a good enough knowledge of the game (PVE), with several runs including SL1, no death run and fist-only (all bosses/DLCs on all 3 except fist-only which I'm struggling on the DLCs)

Here are my questions:

  1. Is there a speed run community for DS3 where I can ask my questions and find more resources, or is this already the best place for that?

  2. I saw that runs are done on previous versions of the game where the carthus rouge was better, what are the other significant changes and some solutions to counter them on the latest version ?

  3. I have read already most of the wiki.speedsouls.com/Dark_Souls_III pages and seen a tutorial on the any% glitchless run, but they are focused on a previous patch and useful mods for speed running, are there other resources/tips for speed running the current version ?

  4. If I plan on downloading mods, is there any risks for my saves to not be usable anymore, currently I only back up my DS30000.sl2 file in another folder whenever I save my laptop's files on an external drive.
    ie: I'm basically wondering whether it's as simple as copy pasting that file, regardless of mods or if the game is completely re downloaded, or are there other details to pay attention to, to avoid losing the saves while handling them

Some additional information that didn't fit the 2000 characters limit on discord :

  • I play on keyboard, and my laptop is not powerful at all, ie : I'm playing with no other applications open and all settings to the minimum, including window size. I do this to stop the lag in most areas of the game
