Is it possible to connect wireless when you have Ethernet because I don’t have wifi and I can’t find the wifi driver, and I can’t play wired too so is it possible to play with Ethernet

your setup is supposed to look like this: pc -> ethernet -> wifi router -> wireless -> headset

#

so the pc is not using wireless at all - its using ethernet

spring igloo
#

Yeah but is it possible you use alvr wireless on my headset when my pc uses Ethernet

headset uses wireless, pc uses ethernet - wifi router mediates

pc -> ethernet cable -> wifi router

#

and NOT pc -> wifi -> wifi router

spring igloo
#

so i go into setting and then i go to wifi ethernet and then

candid perch
#

you do not go into wifi on pc at all - because you do not use wifi on pc

#

in fact you should have wifi disabled on pc

spring igloo
#

yeah but my pc doest have wifi

spring igloo
#

i do

candid perch
#

so impossible for you to do this wrong

spring igloo
#

yeah bu i dont really understand ill send a screenshot

candid perch
#

your devices talk to the router - not to each other

#

your screenshot shows nothing

spring igloo
#

ok so im not really good with this but do i go into setting and then wifi or

candid perch
#

no idea because you are just saying vague stuff

spring igloo
#

im really bad with this

candid perch
#

there is no wifi on pc so how can you go into wifi settings on it?

#

do you have a real problem or just imagining it?

spring igloo
#

i dont know bro but i just want to play alvr wireless when i got a pc with ethernet becuse when im trying to connect a wireless headset its doesnt show up on alvr on the new wireless device. thats my problem

candid perch
#

the wifi router is the relevant part for wifi network

#

not the pc

spring igloo
#

but then i dont understand why i cant connect it

candid perch
#

do you own the network and router?

spring igloo
#

no

candid perch
#

get assistance from the owner - you should not tamper with other peoples network

#

check that your pc is connected to the right router - the same one your headset connects to

spring igloo
#

but i dont know how to check it im not good with pc stuff

candid perch
#

you are not the owner so not allowed to check

#

follow guidance from whoever controls your network

#

maybe you are just putting the wrong address in

spring igloo
#

this is so hard becuse my main laungue is not english nad i dont even know what alot of the words mean

#

ok ill try

candid perch
#

it wont autodetect it in many cases - you need to enter address of pc

spring igloo
#

ok

#

but when im adding it do the local thing need to be there becs on my quest its doesnt say that

#

nah i dont work

#

but do you know how to enable wifi on pc

candid perch
#

you do not enable wifi on pc

#

just put hte correct ip address in

spring igloo
#

i did it

candid perch
#

look at network settings on pc to find address

spring igloo
#

but there are so many options

candid perch
#

ip v4 address

spring igloo
#

ok

#

yeah but my quest isnt on the same ip

#

so i dont work

#

but ill see you later bye

candid perch
#

each device has a different ip

#

do not confuse the headset address with pc address

spring igloo
#

Yeah but I still couldn’t get it to work

#

but am i supposed to put im my pc adress or my quest adress

Sorry to interrupt. But it seems to me like you have a network problem where the headset can't see the PC & the PC can't see the headset. Until you fix this, it's not going to work. And when you fix it, ALVR on the PC will automatically see the headset & ask you if you want to trust the headset. You don't need to add the headset.

candid perch
#

the detection doesnt always work, sometimes you just need to put the address in

neon spire
#

Not in my experience. I've always had ALVR detect my PICO headset. Maybe it's different with quest.

candid perch
#

not everyone has setup same as us

#

headset probably doesnt matter, network may be difference
