ALVR is not recognizing the Heatset and is unable to connect to headset (using link cable)

you need to launch steamvr first - before touching headset

#

and you must launch it from alvr, and have all the mandatory custom options applied

#

I am unable to install APK as well

#

It just says cannot find connected device.

#

I'll try what you said tomorrow.

quiet umbra
#

you can install apk from store

#

cable will not be detected unless you follow guide and enable usb debugging

#

can use wifi - dont need cable

ivory mauve
#

Even with trying air link, It doesn't recognize the pc.

#

There is no blackscreen, It just straight up does not see the PC.

#

headset is last step, you need to connect alvr to steamvr first

#

there is big message on alvr telling you about this

ivory mauve
#

they are connected.

#

I cannot install the apk, The headset doesn't link. My pc knows there is a connection but doesn't recognize it.

quiet umbra
#

it only works in developer mode

#

with working authorised adb

#

without that you can only use store version and wifi

#

the connection you see is just the simple file sharing one, not usb debugging

#

you gotta enable developer mode - then click authorise in headset

#

Note that your headset will need to have Developer Mode and USB Debugging enabled to use this feature.```
#

but you can use wifi so just dont bother lol

#

if wifi isnt working then your network is not setup right

#

probably you are using wifi on pc which is common mistake, use ethernet instead - only use wifi on headset

ivory mauve
#

Finally got the Ethernet cable, Now it just says IP not recognized. Also Disconnected still.

ivory mauve
#

ALVR is also on the Headset.

quiet umbra
#

need to setup ethernet right - pc connected to router

ivory mauve
#

It is.

#

Though it does use a bridge which shouldn't be an issue.

ivory mauve
#

My partner's PC which is still on windows and has a ethernet connection can connect to the headset.

quiet umbra
#

dont use a "bridge" - connect the cable from pc to wifi router, without anything interfering

ivory mauve
#

Its a networking bridge, just extends the connection. well it just adds extra connections.

#

It can link up to my partner's pc on the same bridge but not mine.

ivory mauve
#

and the apk still won't install.

ivory mauve
#

Handshake error for the headset.

ivory mauve
#

It works, now the menus are just static.

#

a lot of desync warnings though.

#

Large pixels all over the place.

quiet umbra
#

lose the bridge

#

use direct ethernet connection only and do not throw away performance

#

bridge or "network extenders" are not suitable for high performance vr use

ivory mauve
#

So it's a bottleneck.

ivory mauve
#

How is over 500Mb/s not fast enough.

quiet umbra
#

coz it doesnt really deliver that speed

#

instead it just repeats your packets and halves your performance

ivory mauve
#

It was artifacting.

ivory mauve
#

Pretty sure Artifacting is not internet related.
