This isn't just exclusive for ALVR, yet any vr streaming service

When I try to connect to ALVR (with wifi), it connects for a second (sometimes I get a glimpse of the steam home but really laggy) and then on my client and dashboard it says connection timed out

It does the same for steam link but it doesn't even try.

For wifi, it's a problem from my pc not really liking my wifi. But for ethernet, it doesn't even detect my headset

I would like to know how to fix my ethernet issue since I can't really fix my wifi issue (and I don't wanna use it anyway), I have a feeling it might be something to do with my ethernet being lan and my wifi being wifi

If important, my specs are: RTX 4060 Ti GPU, Intel 14700k CPU, 32 GB DDR4 Ram

please confirm your exact network topology, it should be this: pc -> ethernet cable -> wifi router -> wifi -> headset

yeah thats it, my ethernet cable is connected to my pc, connected to my router, wifi connected to headset

some problems are only obvious under heavy load

#

you could have one of the wires damaged, so it works fine for most stuff - but errors out when u put heavy load on it

its difficult for remote people to debug this for you - better to get someone on-site to look at the setup

try obvious stuff like using a different cable

#

or rebooting router and pc

#

check router configuration to see if there are funny settings that prevent devices from usign lan

in my own apartment i had a problem where the ethernet ports on the wall were bad, and reducing my speed to 100mbit - which was not obvious at all

i fixed it by just avoiding the bad port and using different ones - crap old apartment

check for vpn as well - that can cause this symptom

there is something wrong with your ethernet setup it seems

#

connecting pc to wifi will not give good result

#

also check that the connections on pc (ethernet) is set to private - NOT public

i watched a quick youtube video

my pc came with a wifi dongle

that i didnt know what it was

#

and my wifi was really slow

now i hooked it up and it works perfectly

you will have different address on ethernet vs wifi - all your problems come from having too many network connections

you need to have a direct connection from pc to wifi router or this is not gonna work
