so i am using the wired alvr on my quest2 but yesterday the bitrate was avg 260mbps and it was good enough but today after the new update my bitrate is now avg 20-70 mbps also my cable speed should be like 2.7gb its a usb 3.0 cable i tested it in blade and sorcery and idk why i need to lower my graphics settings for it to run smoothly but now i cant even run it

SPECS:
gpu:rtx 3060ti
cpu:i5 13600 KF
ram:32gb ddr4
installiation method : windows streamer.zip

what is the problem? it defaults to variable bit rate

#

after you update settings get reset

#

restore your settings if you want same as before

tropic hazel
#

bro its now 15

tropic hazel
#

and its still

worn fern
#

it uses variable bitrate - it will change all the time

worn fern
#

i mean u should ignore this

tropic hazel
#

ignore ?

#

lemme show u smth

worn fern
#

so change your settings lol

#

make sure your versions match as well, the headset just got a new version

#

so you may need to update the windows side

#

just use alvr launcher and grab latest

tropic hazel
#

bro u dont understand what i mean

worn fern
#

u have low quality i am guessing

#

but this is because you have it set for that

tropic hazel
#

no i dont mean that

#

it works

worn fern
#

noone uses 2.7 gigabit of bitrate so just ignore that

tropic hazel
#

okay

#

but

worn fern
#

the headset can only take 200mbit of h265 so yeah

tropic hazel
#

okay

worn fern
#

if u use h264 it can take more

#

200mbit h264 is very low quality

#

200mbit h265 is very high quality

#

huge difference

tropic hazel
#

i use h264 and i have 100mbps in steam vr home and when i launch blade and sorcery it becomes 30-80 mbps and in battle talent the latency becomes rlly high although i always played it at like 6ms and the bitrate becomes 15mbps before the update it was stable at 250mpbs in h264

#

do u understand what i mean now>

worn fern
#

no this means nothing

tropic hazel
#

?*

worn fern
#

the bitrate fluctuates depending on entropy in the scene

#

if you just have a loading screen for example there is little entropy so low bitrate

#

entropy is low when nothing is changing on the screen

#

entropy is high when things are "busy" and pixels are changing a lot

tropic hazel
#

bro i mean ingame yesterday at the same scene it was 250 mpbs and the game is smooth

#

but

worn fern
#

check that the game is running at proper fps

#

check all usual stuff

#

other programs like overlays can interfere

tropic hazel
#

i checked all the stuff

worn fern
#

check you using high power mode and not battery

#

test some non vr games

tropic hazel
#

im on pc

#

lemme try

worn fern
#

check that your headset has autoupdated

tropic hazel
#

bro i checked all of the thing even my drivers

#

and its all the same as before the update

#

but idk why

#

the bitrate in the same scene with the same apps and all the things is lower than yesterday like before the update the bitrate in the same scene was 250mpbs and the latency was 6ms
after the update it's 15mpbs and the latency is 42ms

worn fern
#

well roll back the update then

#

you can pick any version you want

#

its likely you just reset your settings and this is nothing to do with update

#

all you need to do is clickd the "high" preset pretty much

#

you have tried rebooting already?

tropic hazel
#

no 🙂

#

lemme try

#

i rebooted lemme try now

tropic hazel
#

it worked

worn fern
#

good stuff

#

bad performance is often caused by zombie processes
