you have pretty low spec cpu/gpu, that's probably why you have black bars
you don't have av1 support on your gpu - you fallback to software, which is slow on your cpu*
- Not sure, because when i choose h264 + adaptive bitrate i get blocky vr picture, changing to constant bitrate 1000Mbps fixes it, then if i choose av1 codec adaptive bitrate is fine but constant bitrate 1000Mbps is blocky. Something is happening?
alvr already has built in cable support but it's scheduled for release, not now yet
if you want it, you can go nightly i think but you need nightly client too
your best bet is using probably wired h264 with 300-500 mbps and don't disable foveated encoding if you did
- enabling foveated encoding improves the situation, it was disabled before.
I have found the best situation for msfs on my potato pc:
alvr settings:
framerate 80hz
encoder preset: quality
bitrate mode: adaptive
adapt to framerate: tick
preferred codec: av1
foveated encoding: tick
color correction: tick (looks nice on msfs)
Everything is playable, and black bar issue is just 0.1ms in view after enabling foveated encoding.
I look forward to testing alvr usb cable option in future, but I find prismxr bitrate excellent and maybe better than usb link cable (non-meta usb)
Thanks for tips.
