copy paste of the original issue message by Ratewio:

When "Optimize Game latency" is ENABLED the FPS dropping and GPU still stack under 60% usage.
When i DISABLE it FPS is increase and GPU usage is 80-100%

In game VRChat.

PC specs:
Windows 11 moment 4
Ryzen 7 5700x
2×16 3600MHz
msi gtx1080+ 8GB
game installed on SSD Kingston KC600

Copy paste of my reply:
Hey!! I have this same issue, this applies to VRChat

With it off, "Decoder queue" likes to make this sawtooth pattern as its latency rises then resets over and over.

When the game is at a high fps: this setting works fine.
But when fps drops: it causes 80 or 75 fps to feel like 30 or 40.
Steam vr motion smoothing is off.

When i turn off "Optimize Game Latency" the sawtooth latency pattern is visible in game but everything is a lot smoother

you can see this pattern in the statistics tab live when you change the option

Specs:
Windows 11
Intel i9-9900k (stable oc to 5.10GHz)
2080ti (11GB)
32GB (4x8 ram 3200MHz)
1TB NVMe SSD
VRChat installed on secondary 2TB NVMe SSD

Other info:
Using Quest 3 over link
120Hz
client framerate will have negative framerate spikes, more when "Optimize Game Latency" is on
No other issues to my knowledge.

i still get client frame drop spikes regardless of any setting ive tested when playing any game

with the setting off the latency settles in at around 60 fps when i have something very demanding
spikes seem to almost completely go away

but spikes are still present, ive tried different encoding speeds too and different presets, etc

Lots of settings with no real change, though im not sure if this part is fixable

i am referring to the tan line in the framerate box in the screenshot

#

nothing happening in logs either

20.6.1

TLDR:
"Optimize Game Latency" OFF = Saw wave pattern latency in any game including just steam vr
"Optimize Game Latency" ON = Good latency, no pattern, introduces very low FPS when you drop below ~10+ or so fps from refresh rate (for me 120 hz) (not tested on other refresh rates)

#

no other settings seem to affect this, ive tried.
of course, that doesnt stop some settings from making things worse if you tried

#

im still troubleshooting

#

okay so, this isnt much of an issue if any issue at all on 90 hz (IF the setting is ON) if it is off, you still get the latency saw pattern issue

update: now getting it while its ON as well at low frame rates

#

is there anything i could change for this in any spesific config or is there something that may be a bug Pou
