I have a corne, with nice nano v2. I build it, flashed zmk firmware and tried connecting to my windows pc. That didn´t work, then tried connecting to my phone, that worked, i changed bluetooth strength, since then i get zmk error: Security failed level 1 err 4. I tried resetting the firmware, to delete bluetooth profiles, but it doesn´t seem to work. By halves are still connected after the reset.
#Bluetooth not working, firmware reset seems to be not working too.

You will always have to switch bluetooth profiles when connecting to different hosts. We'll assume your phone is currently profile 0; be sure you are switching to profile 1 before attempting to pair to your PC.
It seems like you are using USB logging from the error message: can you upload a log file so other people can see what is happening?
Yeah i am switching profiles. I can upload a file, give me a second, ill see, if i can replicate.
Also to make sure, please build a new settings reset because there was a fix late yesterday
I build one from my github repo, like 2 hours ago, do i have to update anything in the repo?
Here is the repo link: https://github.com/R3PTR/zmk-config/tree/bootloader_reset. I can´t reproduce the error at the moment, when trying to connect my windows pc, it doesn´t show an error in the usb logging. It works with my phone today.
It just fails, displayed, by windows.
Is this a desktop?
Yes, it is a desktop
Could you have missing antennas for your wireless chipset?
While wifi and some other BT devices can work without them, we saw too many times that this is an issue for ZMK pairing
Yeah, i figured, they were only for Wifi, ill connect them and try again.
Okay, it works now with my windows pc, thank you already. I also have a mac laptop, running Monterey. it doesn´t show up on there, i switched profiles. Do i have to do something else.
You shouldn't need to, no. That it doesn't even show up for pairing is a bit weird
What model Mac is this?
Is there something i could try, my Windows is showing up on the mac. Mac is an Mid 2015 Mac Pro
an extremely cursory googling hints that macbook pros of that vintage may only have BT 4.0: you should absolutely verify the exact version yourself but ZMK requires 4.2+
ZMK's bluetooth functionality allows users to connect their keyboards to hosts using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology. It also is used for split keyboards to connect the two halves wirelessly.
If it does have 4.2, is it a Broadcom chip?
Apples spec sheet claims it should have Bluetooth 4.2: https://support.apple.com/de-de/111955. I can´t confirm, because LMP-Version is not showing up on Systeminformation. The Chipset is BCM_20703A1. Quick google search indicates, apples is lying and the chip only has bluetooth 4.1. Thank you for your help, ill get a dongle. Is there something i should check, when buying a dongle, other than it having bluetooth 4.2 or higher and Bluetooth Low Energy?
Not much, no. Anecdotally I had good luck with ASUS dongles based on Intel AX2xx chips
