Hello there, I have a Ferris Sweep keyboard with two nice!nanos in each half.

What happened:

  • Keyboard was connected over USB
  • Coffee spilled
  • I turned power switch off and disconnected USB
  • Removed keys, removed liquids with cloth, left it drying for a while

Current behavior:

  • When I connect keyboard to PC over USB, device is not recognized. lsusb/xinput is empty.
  • Keys not working, ZMK reset key does nothing
  • Shorting RST to GND enters bootloader as expected, bootloader recognized by PC, able to flash

Hints:

  • I flashed right halve with left halve firmware and it's working as expected: recognized by PC and sends keys

What I tried:

  • Reinstalled firmware
  • Went through ZMK troubleshoot guide, flashed reset settings firmware
  • Reinstalled bootloader on nice!nano

Any idea how I could troubleshoot the problem further?
Maybe there is a tool that can diagnose USB issues?
Can it behave like this because some pins are still shorted (I have a multimeter and can verify)?

Thanks in advance.

so it's specifically the left half that is no longer functional, outside of still being able to be reset to bootloader? Since it sounds like the right half is fine physically.
is there a battery attached to it?
can you measure that battery's voltage?

  • Issues only with the left half, right one is fully functional
  • Batteries are attached on both, through switch
  • PC does not recognize left half regardless of battery being switched on or off

One second, will measure voltage

4.13V left, 4.12V right
