Hi. This morning I went to pick up my new coral device, I was mainly gonna use it for frigate. I was setting in up, and suddenly my home assistant interface was acting up, after some time it didn't work at all, the ssh was not responding either so i couldn't do anything other then plug in and out the rpi to restart everything. After waiting a bit i figured out it was not starting up, so i connected the rpi to my screen to check the output. I got a screen i have never seen before, after what i could see it was telling me that it was not able to read the ssd as fat anymore. So i tried connecting the ssd to my computer and found out i couldn't access it there either. Nothing was working i got frustrated, and just planned on start all over cause, the ha was messy anyways. But after reinstalling everything, putting the rpi in usb boot mode (Followed every step of the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxtDyMbDOh4 tutorial) after 10 minutes of doing shit on the new ha, it acts up, and the same error is coming. I also get a error when i first come to the welcome screen on the start of the setup(Only worked to register on my phone) SSD: Seagate Expansion Portable Drive 1TB | Rsp: 4 8gb | Ethernet. Does anyone experienced something like this before, and now what to do ?

Remember Windows can not read pi formatted disk out of the box. So you will get errors if you plug it in and windows might just format it for you. It is possible the disc has run out of spare sectors you might be able to check it with a Seagate tool

I cannot find anything wrong with it, do you recommend upgrading since this is hdd (Didnt know this)

#

Like, could it be the problem ?

You could try burning the HA image again and then restoring your backup, it is a good idea to action the base install first and then do a restore from the supervisor menu rather than doing it during the install.

#

I would go for a small SSD out of preference to an HD as they are so much quicker.

I have nothing to backup, i found out i wanna start again, but it keeps happening, when starting all over, the interface is not working and i need to reboot the rpi to get it up again, but when i do that i get the rpi screen witch says it cannot read the storage as fat.

I will try one more time to be sure, this i time i didnt get the "Something went wrong loading loading onboarding, try refreshing" when registering first time

Are you using a powered USB hub for the SSD and Coral? Because I bet the Pi can't provide enough power for both of those.

mental hearth
#

How can i provided power for them, none of them have a power input

lone marlin
#

Powered USB hub

#

Those three magic words

mental hearth
#

Is it any way for me to check if the rpi can do it or not ? And do you have any recomendations for a good Powered USB hub ?

lone marlin
#

The Pi can't power the hub

#

The Pi doesn't have enough power for all the USB devices

#

Buy any powered USB hub you can get ... wherever you are in the world

mental hearth
#

I do understand it cannot power the usb powe hub, alright, so nothing special to look for ?

#

Think you just found my problem, thank you alot❤️

lone marlin
#

It's a very common problem

mental hearth
#

Yes, didnt even think about it😂

lone marlin
#

Most people don't, it's not an obvious issue until you find it the hard way

mental hearth
#

ye, lost everything to it so ye, for its good to start over, when it was a mess before anyways. Do you have any good recomendations for a good one ? Not too expensive, 2-3 ports ?

lone marlin
#

#

Did you read the message you quoted?

#

(no, if you had then you'd not have asked that)

#

Which you can power with your own USB C power supply

#

USB C

#

Not micro USB

#

Also really depends on what that "apple plug" is capable of putting out

mental hearth
#

¨This is micro usb

#

Not usb-c

lone marlin
#

The one I named uses USB C, hence why I said USB C

#

If you're looking at something else I have no idea what you're looking at

mental hearth
#

I looked up what u name it

#

What does the one u had in mind look like ?

lone marlin
#

That's not what I have, mine is USB C

lone marlin
#

B08KXNDTPV may find it if you're lucky

#

If you're even luckier it may be the same device

mental hearth
#

Something like this or no ?:

lone marlin
#

Yup, with a USB C power input

mental hearth
#

Thats atleast what coming up anywhere

#

I am not able to get that one

#

Would this work too u think ?

lone marlin
#

You simply need an externally powered USB hub

#

If the thing you shared images of takes external power then it'll be fine
