ladies and gentlemen, ya boy just learned how to make scuff, dirt, scratches mlmask layers

so i made a test layer, but it all of it so pixelated?, it should be pretty smooth
i fixed this btw

So i've done the scratchy scratch mask and the dirty dirt map. very subtle, since i like factory new gear

can be tweaked further but for now this is it
this part in particular is biggest W since it was the same block of texture all over

i managed to weight the straps to morph around face sliders and move with expressions

It looks good, the only thing I'd recommend is to move those little pieces of the shroud you highlighted over the base of the nvg mount so the mount looks like it's being held in place by the shroud
idk if that'll make things look funny, if it does no worries, it's a small detail

So first I need to Axl all this stuff

I did this for my mask
Because I had no place to put the accent colors
But on the helmet there's quite a few places I can
Actually before coloring I need to review the mlmask with the layers since I deleted 2 to add those dirt and scratch ones
So this would've meant they would've looked exactly the same as other variants, that's why I added camos on them

Gotcha
One is, the nvg uv has a weird issue I'd need someone to help me with, one of the islands is overlapping some vertices somewhere or something
This issue needs investigating
You may be able to see on the holsetered nvg variant if you take a closer look
On the outer rim of the back Inner tube

Theres a strip that's gets colored the same way as the main helmet
Anyway, this needs fixing
Then the headset headband is actually clipping into the head
I need to fix that
Because I separated it now
The mlmask scratches and dust layers can be improved but this is a subjective optional
Another optional is implementing garment support for the straps
So that I can overlay my mask perfectly without clipping
Oh yeah shit, I forgot - coloring the lenses
The back lenses
And the balaclava
The female balaclava needs adjustments
And that also brings me to the entire male refit
I need to import the male balaclava and then refit the entire helmet

I will need to adjust the male balaclava, split the straps from the helmet and also do that trick with weight
Then ofc the icons, ideally blender ones if I figure out how to import the meshes with cp materials and set up scenes for rendering

Icons are mandatory but blender ones are optional
And that's about it from what I can remember rn

Maybe figure out how to add hair strands for when the balaclava is not being used

To ask the author of night vision mod f he can make a collaborative patch for the helmet xd

Were you planning to keep the helmet rails carbon fiber? The velcro on the helmet also doesn't really look like velcro, but I'm not sure if there's anything that could really replicate it

You know that you don't need everything on one mlsetup, yes? You can also split off more submeshes and have a "velcro" material or a "foam" material
and just assign it by submesh :3

@red reef Unrelated question, but i how do i hide arms on male V? Got a comm to replace the arms with cyberarms and that i did, but they clip with the normal arms and when I try to use the hide_Arms tag it also hides the cyberarms mesh themselves

ok so from the reference ive looked these parts seem to be darker tone on most models
Also, for my custom camos, I see some good reference
this is pretty common across models
So I'll slap my camos on the main helmet
Right I think this looks better
Made the screws and bolts a lighter tone so that it contrasts better on the darker elements, for reference ill post the mlsetup layer colors so future me
So for the 6 non color ones + 7 (maybe all 8 of the custom camo ones) will have this kind shading, red will be the main color such as the one on helmet, shrouds and other large elements will have darker tone, and smaller elements, mostly on nvg like the inner lens rims, inner tubes and various small elements on helmet will have lighter tone than main color
the cyan is the microphone which ill just eye ball it lmao
the blue is the large metal bits and the white are the bolts
Yeah, itโs really looking great. Making those certain parts darker really helped with the contrast and with making it look more solid

so sadly, that's one thing it's a bit too deep to change

For now yes because I have huge problems trying to match tones on colored camo variants
It's why i ditched those
I already have problems with the desert one but that one is actually used quite often
So i will keep it but will be a struggle to match those tones on other mods

I"m trying to load materials from my mlsetup in blender for taking icons, but I can't figure out how. I exported the mesh with the materials checkbox ticked, imported with the plugin with materials checkbox tickeed and here I am with selected material but it doesn't show up. What am I doing wrong
not all shaders are supported, but what does the box here say?
